Anyone ever wonder where the cargo goes in the YT-1300 Stock Light Freighter?  Doesn't seem like there is a lot of space to haul stuff....

Def

Or that a freighter keeps leading fighter raids?
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

I had read somewhere that they were used as a tug boat is today...hence the front square profile and the side mounted cockpit...to allow pilots to see forward whilst pushing cargo containers around the galaxy.

As for leading fighter raids...yeah...no explanation for that one at all.

I'd read that too, but I'd also read that there was room in the hold for an X Wing, which is something I'd never actually understood.

As for the fighter thing,  well look at how well the B17's used to handle fighters.

They might have been used as packets, so mail and light cargo moved quickly on a regular route.  Or there has always been a need for small cargo haulers, to support more remote areass.

The schnooer Pato, commanded by Joshua Slocum, was only about 90 tons.  And was successfully used to move cargo commercially between islands in the Philippines.  She also made runs to salvage wrecks due to her speed and low draft. Anyways what was the question?

Oh right I assumed that he cargo was in the back half of the saucer.  That said there dose not seem to be large hatch.so any fighter would need to be disassembled.

As for the fighter raid thing they are rebels they have to use what they can get, he the Falcon is fast, nimble, and as heavily armed as the fighters.

Really I don't think SW ship design started getting practical until this last of season of rebels.

@Falocon

Well, according to the Wookiepedia it has space for up to 100 metric tons  in 1+3 different cargo areas... Although the freighter configuration completely lacks crew quarters and even a toilet

The Falcon at least has 3 beds and a toilet (for Han, Chewie, Obi, Luke & Leia) :tu:
And according to the Wookiepedia still 100 metric tons of room (although getting the cargo to the cargo-hold seems like a journey).
Still there are other questions, like where do they "cook", store their food and water (even with almost flawless recycling they would need a large amount of water). Why is 80% of the ship corridor :P

I think in the Star Wars Universe energy is unlimited and free (even a really poor scavenger on Jakku can afford a permanently hovering bike) and therefore we see totally inefficient space-ships :P

Not sure I would have much faith in that plan as you wouldn't want your escape pods right next to the engines or that far from the cockpit.

Well, it is a poor design... you have to transport the goods through 10 and 9 into 7

The problem of course is it was designed from the outside in.  Also it seems like the cockpit would make a much better escape pod.

I saw that over on Eurobricks, it's incredible.  Soooo much detail!

There's also a model of the escort frigate Redemption on that site as well, and I daresay it's even more impressive.

Although that's only the digital plan, doesn't appear the creator can actually afford to build it at 15-20k Euros...  :ahhh

Wow, how did I miss this thread!

All my childhood 80s Legos are still boxed up in the basement waiting for an excuse for me to play with them...ie my son being old enough. He has been building Duplo for a while but I am anxious to get him into the real stuff. Did a few of the simpler creator kits and some smaller City kits.

I'll get more pics of classic stuff eventually but in the mean time...

Bought my son this Duplo set for his 3rd birthday:

His favourite so far is the tow truck, but seems quite happy to get me to build anything as long as it's got wheels.  He's getting the hang of taking the models apart, so hopefully he'll start to build his own soon. :tu:
