So, LEGO decided to cancel my order, after 12 days they figured out that they sold too many units.
Good thing they did not deliver that many units to this guy

Worst part is the reasons and how long it took.
I mean how long does it take to realize that you sold too many units? If the cancellation would have come on the 1st or the 2nd I would be understanding. But on the 8th they sent me an email it will be delayed, then yesterday on the 12th they cancel?
I'm curious to see if they publish my review.

that does suck, sorry your having problems. I ordered mine the first "hour" (ordered within minutes of it being first available) and had problems. by what I'm reading even brick n mortar stores sold out within hours (lines were said to be very long) so even if you had gotten a cancellation sooner you still would have waited a few weeks

I think this will be Legos best selling kit and I'm sure the Lego-Ompa-Lumpa's are working overtime at the factories making more (more money for them) so I'm sure in a few weeks or maybe a little longer they will be available again.

to me this set is worth it, the price 119.99 USD is a bargain (6 cents a brick) but I've seen it selling for double or triple on ebay because it has sold out now

just give it some time and I'm sure you can get one for the going price in your area. I am pretty sure the collector price for this set will be insane in a few years after they retire it ...what I'm telling the wife when I get another one for me in a few months

It's also not rocket science, they know the number of orders and they know their own production numbers, so they should be able to predict the day my set would have been produced and simply asked me if I'm willing to wait or if I prefer to cancel.
They should also have closed the ordering if they are not willing to fulfill the orders.

Anyway, at the moment I don't feel like buying the set anymore.

but that would mean they have competent people! people who know what they are doing and do it well....

get used to this in many area's and companies Lego doesn't even seem to care if their online site is updated and working right

Let's remember one thing- not too long ago, Lego almost went out of business. They were mismanaged almost to oblivion and, while their media and licensing agreements may have saved them, many of the people that mismanaged Lego in the first place are probably still employed there. Just because they have been successful again doesn't mean the middle and lower management and line workers have changed their attitudes towards production or shipping since the days of the sinking ship.

I'm not saying that is the case, I'm just saying that it is something to keep in mind, especially since the new stuff (media, video games, licensing etc) are probably all different people in a shiny new building making lots of money while the assembly line folks are still making the same old money working in the same old buildings.

if the how it's made episode is anything to go off the molds for new parts are the expensive bit of the process.

Otherwise it's just banging out batches of whatever is needed and shipping them off to the sort/kitting plant.

Maybe they didn't expect the response they got for it, and were being cautious.

Sure they are similar, but that's not what you ordered. I'd lodge a complaint if I were you.....
