I was planning on waiting until I had a better work area to assemble this set. If you look closely at the photo below, you will spot a working sliding door.

This is a really sweet set. It has lots of interesting details (though the sliding door takes the cake) and construction techniques. I don't remember the last time I built such a large set: 939 pieces. Speaking of time, I got it done in about 2.5 hours.

The alternate models are a town house and a very glassy cabin. I may buy a second set just to build the cabin (and have a brick separator in reserve). On top of that, I have discovered that a Lego Store and a Bricks & Minifigures are close enough to me. I may be in trouble. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Previous UCS Boba slave 1 was 200 on release 10 years ago

A discount is the way to go. Meijer recently had the Modern House I showed earlier at a 20% discount. Silly me just had to have it at full price...damn FOMO.

At the time the boba edition rolled out I wasn't in a position to pick it up, then shortly after they pulled it and the price rocketed.

Still haven't grabbed it, but even used market is more reasonable than the new version.

It's been too long since this thread had an update. And I decided against selling my Legos, for a couple of reasons. Since today is my birthday, I decided to build a couple of sets that I originally intended to leave boxed in hopes of profiting off them.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

We'll start with set number 42168, the John Deere 9700 Forage Harvester. Some parts of this build were tricky, but the end result is pretty impressive, with a lit of neat details and functionality put into the combine head. The photo below shows it with the discharge chute folded away and the head raised, ready to work on the next field. :D

And this is set number 42136, the John Deere 9620R 4WD Tractor. Again, parts of the buld were tricky, and those damn labels! Yet I can't deny the end result looks good, with rear steering and a bogey-type suspension on the trailer. To think that 30 years ago, this model probably would have been three or four feet long!

Edit: I'm leaving these assembled for now. They'll be going on display when my bookcase gets here. And I have a Mercedes-AMG F-1 car that's also waiting its turn.

Thanks! The weather hasn't turned hereabouts, but I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my bookcase. That'll see me build at least a few sets.

I've been window shopping a display cabinet from Ikea for ages, it would be the same for me, having a place to put them after building.

Sadly Normandy doesn't have much of a summer and we've had a lot of wind and rain over the past week, a likely sign summer is over.

Also think all the beachfront restaurants are packing up next week
