My First Alox Mod.
on: August 20, 2008, 02:38:34 PM
well today i broke apart few vics and started the project, heres just few quick snapshots of the knives gutted :D
-2 x farmer
-1 x apprentice
-1 x un-identified vic phillips screwdriver donor.

from this broken downd farmer ill use atleast the backspring of saw.ill be needing atleast two springs to get the pliers in.

This baby didnt have a long life,i just reveived it from Tim and now its in pieces.
from this, ill use the small blade.

dont be sad  :D

ill combine their "lifes" to one tool that suits my needs and taste better.

now i only need one more backspring of saw,pin material and pliers, and maybe ill manage to put that wenger mainblade in too.who knows >:D

those little tubes proofed to be really useful to have all the parts in order, theyre actually just old drill bit cases.

whats the meaning of those markings in alox handles?

You know, you've wasted a real opportunity here: instead of just posting the photos all at once, you should have posted one knife gutted with a message - "cash, or the others get it."  >:D

The pins will be 3.0mm for the sides and 2.5mm for the center.

You will want to drill the tool pivot holes for the phillips, pliers etc. to around 3.05mm to give a little room.

If Rotokid doesn't have the pinstock, let me know and I can send you some with an extra saw backspring for your pliers.

I posted the pliers pic a while back.   It will work with 2 saw springs together, but you have to reshape the pliers handle a little to get it to close, and file a small landing for the pliers tips on the backsprings.

Your donor pliers will be going to the post office tomorrow.  Can't help with a spare saw spring at the moment, sorry :(
Have you not got a local model/hobby shop for the pin stock  ???

Neil
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
