Last night I finished modding one of my Compacts to have an old-school square Phillips.  I’m pretty happy with the results.

I love the idea of the Compact. I love the feel of the Compact. I love almost everything about the Compact...... except the combo tool. I can’t stand it! I own a Compact but NEVER carry it because of the combo tool. I just cannot learn to love it. Now if it had a standard cap lifter/flathead..... :ahhh

If you provide the compact plus a throwaway, I'll put one up for you. Not done any checking on springs etc but I really only think it's the visible pray that is different. If anyone knows, please advise

The Combo Tool is noticeably thinner than the cap lifter so as to fit in the space normally occupied by the small pen blade.  I'm not sure a regular cap lifter would fit opposite the main blade...

If I don't even have to reshape/change spring then I do it with in an hour easy.

Started a new job today,  a job where jeans aren't allowed...  in an office.

Gotta get back to work

Long story short,  the compact is perfect for me

Long story short,  the compact is perfect for me

 :tu:

Other than the military I always worked in same kind of environment. No denim unless it was a designated denim day. For about ten years I wore suits. Wore a SAK on my belt in a small pouch and nobody ever said anything. However, I wasn't the only person with a slip joint knife. Many carried what I would call a "gentleman's" knife. Very slim with one or two 2-1/2 - 3 inch blades. Like the compact, unobtrusive. Others carried a medium size SAK on their belt; a Vic 91mm or Wenger 85mm. What's their policy on that and knives in general?

Honestly,  I'm afraid to ask.  I'm guessing they aren't allowed,  should look through the manual

Just looked through the policies and procedures. It says weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited so I'm going to keep my compact a secret :-)

Everybody knows it's just a "camping tool" anyway, not a weapon

Nice, John. You have some great camera skills!  :tu: You might condiser submitting a shot or two for the calendar.  :tu:

@El Corky: Dude, I worked in a Gov't facility where "knives and firearms" were prohibited. I was amazed at how many people walked around with a folder clipped in their pocket. I wasn't so bold, but awlways carried a Cadet or Compact or Ambassador (or Benchmade 940) in my pocket.  I know it's a new job and all, but ain't nobody gonna fret over a SAK.  :tu:
