Hey guys! Just dropping in to see you fine folks.

Actually did buy a couple of knives this last month.

Another 70's  J Russell Dadley but this one has the more traditional diamond logo vs. the 2 line etch of other mid 70's examples I own or have owned. It also has the std. style sheath vs the "deluxe" pouch sheath of the Gander Mountain and Eddie Bauer versions. Also stumbled onto the scarce  version of Case Scout (that I could afford) with the pliers which look suspiciously close to Vic pliers. Licensed?

Hope everyone is well.
Robert

heeeey!  :ahhh Glad to see you again!!  :waving:
My toys:

I found a neat keychain utility knife about a month ago through some minimalist EDC thread. It's called a Quark Tool, found it on a crowd funding site called Crowd Supply. Machined out a single piece of metal, it holds standard utility blades. The locking mechanism, essentially a level that inserts into the cutout portion of the blade, is a little stiff, and the edge of the 'finger dimple' could be chamfered for a bit more comfort. But, it's pretty neat. Best of all, no bottle opener  :D

Here it is next to my Executive for size comparison.

I've had the thing about 4 or 5 hours now, so these are just initial impressions. The blade stays locked in until you pull back the lever, so I don't feel any undue worry about it coming out on its own. I also sit flat on my key chain, which is a huge bonus.

Found this one at a garage sale today.almost didn't stop as I was on my way home from a car show and had food in the car for myself and my bride(well 25 years ago she was). Didn't see any knives displayed so I asked if she had any and the lady replied one that her husband got many years ago.
She went in and retrieved it and said if I wanted it I would have to pay $20 for it. After examining it I paid for it and left.
Although I know it is a Spanish style navaja there are a couple thing about it that are puzzling me. It appears to be quite old and the construction is decent but not outstanding. The blade is etched with the word,"recuerdo" which according to my translator means either,"I remember" or,"souvenir" among other things. There is also an image of a swan and some scroll work around it. There is no nail mark which might have helped me in determining whether it is of Spanish or French origin. The reason I think it may be French is the tang stamp. It is stamped with what is either the number 10 or 12 and next to that perpendicular to the number is what looks like the letters (I L I).This is typically how older French tang stamps are done.
The handles(front and rear)appear to be made of some type of white composition material and inset on either side is a small rectangle of what looks like Baltic amber(minus insect). The rearmost handles are held on with steel pins surrounded by conical brass washers.
As yet I haven't been able to track down the tang stamp and am hoping that someone on this forum might have seen this stamp. Any information would be greatly appreciated. As always it was photographed on a background of 1 inch(25.4mm) squares for size reference. Thanks for looking.

that's an odd one  :like:

"Recuerdo" means many things,
as a noun, a "Recuerdo" is either a "Souvenir" (something you take as a reminder of your travels or trip) or a "Remembrance" (something that you remember from your past) :tu:
as a verb, "Recuerdo" is the first person singular of the present of the verb "Recordar" (to remember), so "I remember" would be "Yo recuerdo"

It probably is the former one, the noun, so that means that the navaja is a souvenir or a piece to be remembered  :salute:

It probably is French, there are hundreds of thousand French made Spanish-styled navajas, and the "ILI" marking does not bring any company or author to mind (Spanish in origin, that is)  ??? and the curves and shapes of it are less Spanish looking that what you often see, they usually belong more to a "copy" or "homage" made elsewhere

sorry but I can't help you  much in this  :P
but it is a good looking piece
