Thanks, they are great looking but also may be too bulky for me?
I will see how I feel in a Week of carry before thinking more about swapping the scales for something thinner.

Kershaw Amplitude arrived today. This knife really feels like a much more expensive knife.  :)

I picked this beauty up from a custom Damascus Artisan George Vogle, at an open market in Goliad, Texas today.  It's my fist Damascus and realy one of the very few to ever captivate my eye.  I think it mostly has to do with how the wood grain brings out the damascus grain and vise versa.  He had many beautiful folders and fixed baldes but this one just stood out.  Even the Mrs. took note of it with out making fun of me.  As a mater of fact she spotted his booth and brought me over to point this one out.

My oldest son came in yesterday from work to pick up his dog that we were watching and gifted me with this knife. Of course I had to give him the requisite coin to stave off bad luck. At first I thought it might be one of the 1980's era Parker old English replica knives(of which I have a couple)as the guard and pommel looked like one I had. Slightly different so then I thought it might be one of the "Pacific Rim" knives that seem to abound everywhere. The tang etch(very faint)said,"Old Smoky" and upon closer examination I noticed an even fainter etch on the opposite side saying,"Stainless Pakistan".
Could have fooled me as it looks to be of much higher quality than the Pakistani knives I normally run across. The fit and finish is good;the grind lines are straight and there is no discernible waviness in the blade looking down it at an angle. I haven't tested the edge yet and probably won't as I don't plan on chopping down any trees or the like with it;more than likely it will be a wall hanger.

I was in a pawn shop a while back and spotted this knife in their basket of "basket cases".  It's missing one screw on the clip and the other was loose.  It was also dirty and the blade did not open smoothly.  I spotted that is is labelled "snap-on" but made by Kershaw in Japan.  Also the blade is almost pristine - none of the scratches and marks that make it look like it was sharpened with a dull rock :)

Shown beside a 91mm victorinox for scale.

The "cammo" coating is starting to come off on a couple of edges - I may help it along eventually.  I took it apart and cleaned it and as a result it is very smooth.  I have in a request to kershaw for the missing screw.

A very nice substantial little pocket knife.  If you see one consider getting it.

John.

Thanks gents.  The clip is quite neat I agree.  The knife is discontinued but I'm hoping Kershaw can send me a screw or matching pair.  I have no idea of the thread count on it.

John.

I've always liked the "Half Ton" model originally made in Japan for Snap On. I found an orange one, that hopefully I can get cheaply, but it's a bit worse than yours--the rubber insert is somewhat worn. Looks really good in camo!  However, being chipped, it might look better being brought back to what appears to be black.  I hate camo scaled knives, as almost always, hydro-dipping or a similar process is used, and it wears off quick. I had a Buck Nano Bantam in Mossy Oak AP Blaze start wearing the first day I carried it.
