Robeson 922295. This knife appears to never been sharpened by the previous own. It is so dull it will take some time to get it sharp again.      :D

Schrade 12OT   :)

That was the first knife I got new--unfortunately, it was also one of the first Schrades to come out of China under Taylor ownership.     I got a used 12OT and 3OT for less than $10 together a couple months back--both USA made.  The 12OT now, with 1095, and not that flimsy 7Cr17 (which is too soft, and easily damaged), is a nice knife. I strongly suggest that we here ask Taylor to have more knives made here, in the USA by Kutmaster and Bear MGC.

After swearing off buying any more knives I stopped off at an antique shop today that I haven't been to in awhile.Found a bag of three knives in the display and bought them. A KA-BAR 1071 mini stockman ;a Case 6233 10 dot(1970) serpentine pen and the one I really wanted:a Browning USA 3 blade stockman with rosewood handles. All for $21.72 including tax.

This is the first pointy-sharp thing I ever purchased that wasn't made by Victorinox!
It's an Eka Swede 9.
Not sure if I like it. I am particularly irked that I went out of my way to buy something not made in China, only to later find it may indeed be made in China. Eka is incredibly evasive about where their things are made which is a suicidally stupid policy. (In contrast: Kershaw is commendably clear about which of their knives are Chinese made and which are made in the USA.)
Also - what the heck is Camo-Wood? That's the expression they use on the packaging - while the shop had the handles advertised as Bubinga. As far as I can tell it's plastic, in a pseudo wood pattern. Had I known that I'd have chosen the bright orange variant.
The thing is very solid and when locked it's incredibly rigid. So I can't complain about the workmanship. I just find their vagueness - about materials and place of manufacture - really annoying and offputting. Would I knowingly spend 60-something euros on a Chinese knife with plastic handles? No bloody way. But that's what I think I've got.  I'll never know. Which is even more annoying!

This really begs the question.
Does it matter if the quality is there?
