There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I know that because it's got my name on it.   :D

Nice one Grant!
I did the Bond challenge and enjoyed using it.
Right now it's on my desk and used as a package opener...the knife is so very sharp, just the way I like them!  :tu:
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

I actually bought this one a few years ago and it finally just made it's way to me recently.  I'd completely forgotten I'd bought it let alone had my name lasered into it.

The blade shape is reminiscent of that exchangeable scalpel blade on that other tool... hypalon or something?  I don't recall what it was called off the top of my head.

It's a bit stiff so far for my tastes but I will keep carrying it for a while and see if it loosens up a bit.

I still think they should have called it the PST II.  It's about time we had a follow up to some of the classics.

I’m pretty much the exact target customer for the Bond

I’m in the UK, don’t have a legal “good reason” such as a hobby or work to carry a locking blade most of the time, and decided to retire my 90s PST because I’d be upset if I lost it after all these years together.

It still just misses the mark for me somehow.

The Bond is just a tiny bit bulkier and less symmetrical than the PST. I like it, but I don’t love it.

I’d definitely buy a Bond II with a combo blade and scissors though.

Hey, wait.  That's mine!

The Bond challenge really changed my opinion of the Bond.  I think it's the best-bang-for-your-buck multitool on the market, followed closely by the Rebar.   8)

I wouldn’t mind having a Bond but for me a saw is more useful than the file.
I wish they made a similar tool as the Bond but smaller, built around the Juice plier and philips head.

And for me, outside-opening tools - though then it would no longer be a Bond.

It seems like a cross between the PST series and the Rebar.

I like that it's not a fancy, gadgeted up doodad with fancy colors and swooping shapes designed to attract hipsters who will never actually use it.

It's good that LM is still making real tools occasionally.

I’ve got terrible news about the fancy colours…

I don’t mind Leatherman making coloured Bonds. It makes sense to introduce a bit of fun to an entry level tool to attract new customers. I just wish they’d stick to one colour per tool, not the mid-matched handles thing.

Are you happy with the blade on the original Bond? Mine has a bit of movement, but I’ve never come close to cutting myself when I’m using the pliers.

I will chime in…

FIRST, I luv my REBARs and SuperTool 300!

The BOND is good value for non locking tool set from LM!
I have two now, an original and a 2nd gen with revised blade.
The only downside is LM does include the pocket clip😕
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Another thing, the BOND piqued my interest more so in the PST line.   I now have 6 or 7 of these originals, including a Japan made model. Large Letter and Rivets!  A work of art IMHO😎

Wanted the color model, tried twice!  Unfortunately, both I received, broke with a few hours of arrival with the same issue,
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The BOND is slightly larger than the PST.   I can carry a PST in a pocket easily as it is smaller than my CASE 75 Stockman.  The BOND rides very well with pocket clip in right front Jean pocket.

I do like the engraving of your name and placement on your BOND Grant. It is very classy.

And, yes it will loosen up.

And, as FoBe shared it is a CHALLENGE worthy tool for introduction to the MTo culture and LM regardless of residence on this Blue Marble!😎
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

:iagree: Your words ring true for me too mate.

I would love to have one with a sub 3" OHO opening blade (combo to maximize usage) with a decent half stop like the Spyderco UKPK  :tu:

Looking good everyone!  I had a friend in need, so I passed my Bond on.  I'll be picking up another one.  The similarities side by side with the PST are incredible.

I haven't used it for much if I'm honest.  It is remarkably stiff and difficult to open, but the back springs are also quite tight and I didn't notice any blade play.

I am honestly very concerned about the longevity of the back springs because they are so tight.  I really feel like it's not going to be long before they snap off at this rate.

They really are tight.  It seems like they break in a bit over time, but mine was never anything near loose.

Ever since Grant started this tread I have wanted a Bond, I dont need it, my Rebar is just as good. It also made me look at the Curl, I like that one also but I got my Charge. I like them but dont need them. What to do, they look so nice and shiny.

The CURL is more WAVE like!

Then the MTo logic if a true follower -
“ONE is none,
    TWO  IS ONE!”

A BOND is nice, but then a second REBAR is a good call as well! 😜

Honestly I like the Bond and I like the Rebar.  I wish Leatherman would concentrate more on tools like this instead of silly things like the Free series and Tread, or needlessly overpriced stuff like the Arc.  They made their name on good, solid, reliable tools and I wished that was more prevalent nowadays.

Still, I am guessing that Tim and Ben both drive much nicer cars than I do, so they are probably right and I am not.

Basically the Bond is a non locking Rebar, and that adds a lot of versatility to where you can take and use it.

Bond. Grant's Bond. *Cue Bond theme music*!
