I think that with the bit is a better use than the whistle anyways :tu: :like:

I think so too. If I take some off the sides it might fit in flat and have enough plastic for a type of retaining clip(s). One might even be able to keep the whistle functioning then, I will have a look during the week.

Indeed, I tried putting one UNDER the clip, it sort of fits but over time will bend the clip. I think adding to the outside might make for some interesting moments getting the tool out of one's pocket. Not sure what to use to keep it on the clip?

It's way too expensive for an EDC for me, I lose several pocketknives per year, so I carry cheapie lock blades, :-) But the Signal rides in my BOB, with a lanyard and pocket sheath. Then if I try to walk off and leave my Signal someplace, the sheath flops against my leg and reminds me.

I also carry a freznel lense and a lighter and a small coil of waxed 1/2" cotton rope, with an inch of copper tubing on one end. It makes a superb tool for lighting fires. The tube is the flame-adjuster. The charred rope will take a spark when it's soaking wet

Hi guys! I have some questions, and i hope this is the right place to ask. I have a Surge, and i absolutely love it...but, you know...summer is coming, and the surge is too big and bulky and heavy to been carried in a pair of shorts...so, since that was my b-day few days ago, i'm thinking at the Signal like a self-present for me (hell, i deserve it!)...my question is this: if i buy the signal, could i swap the bottle opener and the saw of the signal with the big flathead and the t-shank of the Surge? With this mod the Signal could be the perfect multitool...hope you can help me...😁

Short answer is no sorry. Either would take a fair bit of work to get them in. Both great tools but the parts aren't really interchangeable.

Has anyone thought of combining the scales of a regular signal with the coyote tan signal to create a pure black version? Just curious... :-\

If I can get one to Oz, that will be what I'd do.

Absolutely... but i'm afraid i'll miss one or two tools from the surge, and i think that i could not find useful the sharpener and the ferrorod of the Signal... mmm...could i swap this two tool with something else? I want to creare the perfect multitool for my needs....

It's part of reducing weight and bulk.

The closest to a mini surge would be a modified wave/charge.
I would rather pocket a signal over those two.

Partner it with a sak and you're good to go.

And another really good option is the Victorinox Spirit.

Hi guys!! New day, new questions...
1) do you think should be enough space, in the signal's shell, to fit&carry a spare Surge Diamond file?
2) do you think should be possible to change the can opener (i can open bottles with the carabiner, and cans with the knife or the awl) on the signal with the big flathead of the surge? I use the big flat to scrape and light prying, and there is nothing similar on the signal...
Waiting for owner's opinion, thank you all for your help!!

Hey Obi, how did you mod the bit driver to fit the spare blades?

Have a look at this post. I asked a similar question and Obi posted the picture in the message quoted: Infact have a read through the whole post. Lots of good info and pictures.

Got my new Green one today, thanks to a very kind Inmate.

The Blade is an absolute work of art. It has contour lines all over it. Time will tell about the durability of it.

The pics also show my custom sheath made by another one of our inmates. Bovine leather, with crocodile inlays and lined with kangaroo.

Cheers,

Pete

I'd keep the contours on the blade, but add a leaf print on the body. Similar to some Wenger RealTree Models, but more suitable colours.

I cannot say it enough, the blade is beautiful. Better than the Damascus one I bought for the original one, sadly not fitted. It is not quite as thick and rubs against the awl...
