Well, finished my little hack/mod. I wanted a longer/bigger sharpener, and I wanted a file in my Signal, ever since I got it; since I did not wanted to spare any of my Waves, I bought a Surge replacement file and saw set, and modified the file to fit the bit driver: trim the rear tip using the combo bit for measurements, removed the lower lug, and chamfer both sides and remaining lug to approximate the "angles" of the bit, sliding in and locking as one. It works great, and does not affect the spring tension or add any stress since it is a push type cut and it rests in the bottom of the holder while cutting (and I always place my index finger on any multitool's file to even out the pressure and get the feel of it). It will travel along with the bit kit, and be used as needed. All in all a great hack! :2tu:

Now, carry on with your usual business, people! :salute:

This is brilliant Juan, well done! I've been missing a file on my Signal as well. *takes notes*

That’s a good one! It’s tempting to do the same to a Surge saw/file kit and make it fit a bit changer.

Really cool mod, Juan!  :tu:

The signal design has alot going for it. If LM ever makes a Signal with the T shank adapter, I'd be all over it!

A question to the experts and/or Signal owners out there; is the "Leatherman Signal °" DLC,or some other finish? I like that it sometimes shows like BO, and other silver/polished SS!  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I think the colors are probably cerkote but I am not 100% sure of that  the tools and plier head should either be BO or regular stainless

Thanks Poncho for your quick response,  :hatsoff: but I wanted to know specifically for the logo/brand name/nameplate, which on occasions looks "silvery" and other "black"(like the black Victorinox Swisstool black). Yes, there are three basic  finishes on tools and handles: Stainless Steel, Black Oxide, and Cerakote; but that logo stil eludes me...

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]  No  needed; glad you tried to help!  :salute:

Well, the reason for not gettin' the Topo Signal (right now) arrived... here's my new "Robin's Egg" Signal!
 :mail: :woohoo:
Still wondering about the logo, as the one on the "RE" appears like printed/screened, and subdued, no matter the lighting or lighting angle; the "CT" one has crisp, clear lettering (the "registered" symbol is easy to read in this one) and, like I said before, appears like shiny/polished on certain light angles. Guess I'll have to get the Topo to find a definitive answer ...   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]  (No, I will not write to Leatherman and ask; leave me alone!   )

Could it be a production change/update? The "RE" has a date code of 0719 while the "CT" is 0821; can anyone with a newer Aqua or earlier Coyote verify this? :dunno:
