Got this one in last week and finally got around to taking some pics of it. It's a older Camillus "Sword Brand" #89 large stockman.........

It came MIB and still covered in the factory lube which had gummed up and turned hard from years of storage. It was a PITA to get cleaned up.

Not sure exactly how old it is, but judging by the tang stamps it's either from the 70's or 80's. I am leaning towards the 80's.

I forgot that beauty.
Best finish I have seen on a Rough Rider knife. Similar to Colt and some nice Case
knives.

Well first thing to tell you is I haven't got it anymore. It went over to your side of the pond in a trade with Ashley. Generic Sheffield stainless steel (think SAK type), big durable plastic handles (they're at least as deep as they are broad) and probably the strongest shoutiest backspring I've ever had.

To be honest it was a little big in the hand for me. Both blades are slippies (which I like) but I found myself favouring the traditional slippies for pocket carry, and when going hiking I was taking a fixed blade knife so the Ibberson just sat in a drawer. I don't know how Ash has found it in use. I know she really liked it when it landed but don't know how much work it has done since (or if she still has it)

It's a good no-frills user, but it just wasn't seeing daylight with me. I think I paid around £20-£25 GBP (EDIT around £10-£15) for it a few years ago. I'll see if I can find the link and drop you a PM through  :tu:

I found them in the US here - LINK

The price seems to be close to what you say. They also have the BAK with plastic scales which I've been wanting to get - BAK

No problem :salute:

The prices you linked to are not bad at all. It would probably cost more for me to buy one for you and ship it over - so I'd go for it from them  :tu: They're both good honest workers that'll serve you well. Don't expect fantastic fit and finish, just expect them to do the job and do it well (and be easy to get really sharp too)

As an aside, if you can find the BAK (though I think that one's often called a British navy knife with the diamond pattern grip) by John Nowills or one of the other makers you might be happier than one by Joseph Rodgers as I've found them to be a little more hit and miss and occasionally a little spongey on the backspring - although that pattern tends to be a bit of a of a nail breaker traditionally, so it might work in your favour  ;)

Got these two in a week or so ago, new release from Case. The Bone is Clover Sawcut, good looking stuff. The two I got here from the series is the big 4 5/8" closed #546 Backpocket (end-capped) and the 3 7/8" closed #47 Stockman.

The series is typical Case with Tru-Sharp stainless blades, nickle/silver bolsters and shield, and brass liners and pins. Everything mirror polished.

Fit and finish is pretty much excellent on both. Can't find a gap anywhere, no blade play, good backspring stoutness, sharp edges, backsprings all around remain flush with blades opened or closed. Only fault I can find on either is a small scratch on one of the pile side bolsters on the Stockman. Other than that both are rock solid and clean.

I really like the bone on this run. These pics were taken this morning and it's a bit overcast right now. It's a vibrant Green, really pops in the sunlight. Couldn't be happier with these two, just wish they did a larger #75 Stockman and a #94 Gunboat in this run.

Gareth, Sean, and nuphoria,

I agree, the bone looks real good on the Backpocket. I also like the fact that on this run of the Backpocket they capped it......I much prefer end-caps to bareheads.

And here's another one I got alongside those two Case pieces that I finally managed to get some pics of today. This one a Northwoods Indian River Jack. It's a simple equal-end pattern, very slim, and measures in at 3 3/4" closed. From my understanding these are built by Queen Cutlery with the blade Convexed by Bark River.

Build on this one includes nickle/silver bolsters and shield, brass liners and pins, and a blade of ATS-34 stainless. My particular version here is scaled in smooth Buffalo Horn.....done just the way I like it!

Fit and finish is real good, but for the price could of been better in one area. It's a solid piece with decent backspring strength, not heavy but not light, real good middle of the road stoutness. Zero blade play and the backspring rests flush with blade opened or closed. The pins and shield are flush to the scale material and running your fingers over them you can just barely feel the shield, otherwise smooth as glass. Flawless mirror polish on the parts done as such. The edge is very sharp, not quite as scary sharp as some of my Bark Rivers, which I was expecting it to be. But it is one of the sharpest out of the box slippies I own.

The knife is gap free and solid in fit aside from a minor hairline gap in the backspring area.....

.......up near the pivot end on the pile side between the liner and backspring. It's not affecting anything and is small, but for the price of this piece this should not be.

Otherwise it is a nice little slippy. Excellent blade steel paired with a great edge, it's a very pocketable piece and would make a nice EDC for those who prefer slimmer medium sized frames.

Got a couple new pieces in this past week and this is the first of those. Snagged from auction and got a great deal on it. Mint 2004 Case Brothers Gunboat Canoe.

Typical Case build with Tru-Sharp stainless blades, nickle/silver bolsters and shield, and brass liners and pins. Scales are "Russell" jigged Chestnut Bone. Production run of only 500 made, mine is #324 of that.......

Fit and finish is excellent. Polish is perfect, backsprings are stout, backsprings remain flush with blades opened or closed, sharp even ground edges, gap free fit, zero blade play, and came with all the goodies as from the factory......

And it's my favorite pattern with some real good looking bone........

Couldn't be happier.

This is the other one I got this week. Another pull from auction. Payed more than I wanted to for it but well worth it.

It's a USA made Marble's EZ-Open Jack built in 2001.

It's 3 3/4" closed with polished 1095 carbon steel blades, nickle/silver bolsters and shield, brass liners and pins, and some beautiful jigged Blue Bone scales........

F&F is excellent as well with sharp even ground edges, flawless mirror polish, good backspring stoutness and they remain flush with blades opened or closed, zero blade play, and near gap-free fit overall. The only fault I could find are some real faint gaps in the backspring area. Very fine and hard to see......

Nothing major at all and aside from that a very well built slippie. As mentioned this is a earlier American made piece, and if memory serves these were done by Queen. Cost me a bit, but these 2001 models are getting to be rather rare to come across. And while you can still find some of the later versions they too are a bit pricey. As I had none of these in my collection and have been wanting to get some, this one proved to be a excellent first addition to my collection.

That's another beauty :tu:

Re the earlier comment about end caps - I think I just like the feel of them, as well as the weight of the knife. I also think that I'm less likely to bust it up in use!

Where are you getting all these amazing coloured ones from?!

nuphoria,

On end-caps, for most patterns I prefer the look. As well as the durability......bareheads give little protection to scale material. Much easier to get a pin crack on a barehead.

As to where I get these, the green bone Case's I snagged from http://www.soonerstateknives.com/index.html, the Case Brothers Gunboat and the Marble's I got from James Parker, known as "silverladdie" on Ebay.....http://www.ebay.com/sch/silverladdie/m.html?_trkparms=65%253A1%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1&rt=nc&_ipg=&_sc=1&_sticky=1&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_sop=10&_sc=1
