Got a NIB Wave for $16!

Well I ordered the SOG from West Marine and never got any confirmation email or anything like that and it did not show up as purchased on my West Marine account. I called today and I was told it was out of stock online, but they could get it from a store and ship it to me. Well they are out of stock in all stores within 50 miles of me. They then offered a West Marine multitool and flashlight instead which I declined. They offered a Gerber Octane which I declined. They then stepped it up and offered a Wingman/Sidekick ($50 on their site) which I declined as well. I told her that I would not be interested in anything other than a SOG or Leatherman (minus the Wingman). She said she had one I would probably like and offered me a Wave ($89). I gladly accepted and now have a Wave on the way for $17.69 shipped.  :nanadance:

I have to say my hopes were crushed and I was really looking forward to the SOG, but i'm good with the Wave! I will probably end up trading it for something though.

West Marine handled the situation much better than I was expecting and I am very impressed. Both the women I talked to were extremely nice as well.

This reminds me I need to carry the Powerlock along someday soon. I love that tool :D

Having had both, I have to say you are miles better off with a Wave, for everything except actual marine use. The SOG is a great idea. The pliers are outstanding. Everything else about it sucks.

I know it's a disappointment not getting a tool you were looking forward to, and for that I sympathize. But really, you're better off having gotten that fantastic deal on a Wave.

 That was nice of them but they really need to fix their inventory system because it stinks.

I agree, but I just got a Wave a month or so ago that I carry almost every day so I don't really NEED a Wave. I'm not complaining though.

Great to hear West Marine took care of you. 

The Wave is great as you know but it would have been cool for you to get the PPP to try.

I might still get a PPP deluxe from someone who bought a few. I have owned a PPP in the past so I know how they handle already.

West Marine really needs to get their smurf together when it comes to their online stuff. A bunch of other people on the forum complained about the same thing and I even told them about the issue. They said it's been happening for months, but the IT guys just can't figure it out.
