Lost my Multitool
on: November 10, 2015, 09:05:53 PM
I had a Paladin PT 540 multitool that included a 110 and a 66 style punch tool.

After a year, I am fairly certain it is not coming back to me, and that Paladin is not going to make any more of them.

Do you guys have an recommendations for replacement tools that include at least the 110 data network punch tool, the pliers, Flat/Philips screwheads, and the knife that MUST be shorter than 3 inches?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Sorry it's the loss of a tool that's brought you to us. To be honest, anything to do with data networking might as well be taught at Hogwarts, but someone from the 21sr centuary will be along soon :tu:

If you want the same one there is 2 on eBay right now.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Welcome to the forum!

I really haven't seen much discussion about punch down tools, which is a bummer.  The best candidate I've seen for this is the Gerber Cable Dawg (http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Cable-Dawg-Multi-Tool-30-000399/dp/B0070IS53E).  This doesn't include pliers, and I'm not sure about the blade length (I suppose it could be ground down if everything else looked good).  And it's pricy, I guess since it was developed for the military.

Hopefully someone else here will have some options as well.  I wonder if there's someone making a 1/4" punch down bit for a bit driver (the way Gerber does with the Cable Dawg).  That would certainly open up some other options.

If the PT-525 meets your requirements they also appear on ebay reasonably often (and are usually cheaper than the PT-540).  The PT-510 also has the 110 punch down tool, but these are less commonly seen for sale.

I suppose you could just get a SOG PowerLock (sometimes REALLY cheap on EvilBay) and then contact SOG to see if they could round up the punch-down implements for you. They have great customer service and you never know - you could get lucky
