Is this just a translucent scale? Looks like it would scuff really badly.

We'll have to wait and see, but I think they might be tougher than they look.

Thanks Max

I've got a set of translucent Blue and Onyx scales, and while they do scuff, the scratches don't show up nearly as badly as the one's on celedor scales :)

They are transparent plastic, with a silver-like coating on the inside of them.  I have a set on the way for an article for SOSAKOnline, and I'll let you all know what they are like when they arrive.

I've a bunch of stuff on eBay ending soon, so I'll finally have some more funds in my PayPal account for toys SAKs.  Forgive me, for it has been three months since my last FelineVet purchase
So its off to Tim's emporium for the addicted for a long overdue splurge this weekend :D

I shall be ordering a couple of knives with the new scales.  Pics of knife assembled and descaled will be posted once they're here.

They are listed now on his site, so I'm assuming they are in?

Yep, I have all 4 models in stock (Climber, Huntsman, Spartan and Sognatire Lite). I like them a lot and they are totally different from the earlier translucent scales. It is hard to describe how nice they are without actually seeing them. I'll let the folks getting them chime in as they get theirs delivered. You can PayPal me direct without going through store checkout. Just be sure to indicate what you are ordering.

Well mine have arrived today, thanks as normal to Tim for the swift delivery  and a great big  :twak: to Royal Mail Dick Turpin for the £8 "handling fee". (vankers)

Initial impressions are  :(  Perhaps not my cup of tea.  The silver matches the inlaid sheild and the tools a bit too well, it makes it look a little bland.  Perhaps black oxide tools with it would work :D

In the name of SAK science I have pulled the scales off so you can see the the underside where the silver has been applied.  If you click on the little pics below you can see that where some of the plastic around the bushings has come away it leaves a visible mark when viewed from the top of the scale.  So anyone fancying popping some of these scales onto another blade be careful.

They do look nice, but I was pretty well unimpressed when I saw them at the SHOT Show this year.  Mine arrived today as well, and I was hoping I'd missed something at the show.

They are pretty though... but that's about all I have to say about them.  I bought one of each- Huntsman, Climber, Spartan and Signature Lite, and the Signature Light is probably the most interesting because the scale is a little fancier (with the electronics etc under the fancy color), but moreso because they have finally switched to a white LED light.

Look for a new review on SOSAKOnline in October!  :D

Neil's pictures look very different from what I expected. I think I am going to reserve judgement until I can see them in person though...

They do look nice though- I can't take that away from them.  I usually don't carry a translucent scaled model as they look like poo after a short period, but I am going to carry one of these to see if they hold up any better.

Did I mention they are pretty?

I think I'm going to have to disagree with Def (unless he has a big bad ban button as well).  I'm a sucker for pretty SAKs, these are just a bit boring  :-\

They should use these on the knives with digital scales.  The clear plastic could offer quite a bit of additional protection to the display.
