There are crooks everywhere. This one just happened to be from your home town (maybe). His email address mentions the Seychelles. In my years of collecting knives, I've only run into a couple of definite crooks; most people are pretty decent.
Worst I've run into was a guy in France. Goes by justinqaf on eBay. Not a big knife seller so you'll probably never have to deal with this piece of garbage. Bought a very nice 1940s Spartan from him, wire transfer the money, never responded to emails or sent the knife. He put the same knife back up for sale a year later after the negative feedback went away, and sold it to a well known collector in France (goes by cineted on the French SAK forums) who I hope at least got his knife. Never got the money back because wire transfer. He knew what he was doing, too, because he blocked me from bidding on the knife the second time.
All in all though, statistically I've done pretty well. I've bought thousands of knives and only had problems with 2 or 3 that I can think of.
