Sure.

Either in 100 years, after the Swiss Army has been using them for decades.

Or even today, but also do pages for Boker, Emerson, Richards, Amefa, Aitor, Pradel, Rough Rider, Cohlgan etc.

They don't even identify themselves as swiss army knife, just swiss knife.  Perhaps a SKWIKI page?

"A legend reborn: SWIZA reinvents the Swiss Knife"
and "The legendary Swiss Knife has been given a redesign for the first time in decades."

To which "Swiss Knife" are they referring? These guys?

Or do a page for non-SAK multi blades. (SAK wannabes)

I got a few Swiza knives earlier, and they seems ok and decently made.

I think the term "SAK" more or less implies knives that are made specifically for Swiss Army, either in the past or currently, and it turns out Victorinox and Wenger were the largest makers everyone can identify and agree with.  And when people say 'Swiss Army Knife', they generally are referring to Victorinox or Wenger products.

Once we open the door to anything 'Swiss made', then as someone suggested, it may become SKwiki and we can't help but to include all the forms of one-hit wonders.

If you show a red Swiza to someone, on the street, at the pub, and ask them "what is this?", what will they answer?

That does not make it right... show them a fish-scaler and they will call it a saw
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Right and wrong may have to do with what the word or phrase means to most people rather than what it once meant.

Yep! Lots of vaguaries to consider. Is a SAK only military issue, or only Vic (and Wenger), or can others play too  :D if we're going off public perception, then Chinese stuff such as the Coglans and some of the Solingens, and Aitors will get labelled as SAKs too.

Personally I like the idea of classifying them seperately, as it may also give chance for other scout knives and multipurpose knives to have a place to reside too. Currently they either appear just in general tools or get sidetracked to the knife forum, and get overshadowed by the Swiss offerings. Two non-Swiss items I have do get carry time; a Joseph Rodgers Camper and a Case Scout Jr. Bike tools are another thing that tend to get sidelined a bit round here too

Didn´t vote in this can of worms, not because I don´t want to give my thought but I´m not sure.

Technically Swiza is not a Swiss army knife, just a Swiss knife.
At the same time very few of the Wenger and Victorinox we discuss are. They just happen to be made by one of the brands that deliver to the swiss army.
I will give it some time before I decide. Let the brand prove itself first.

I guess a vote is the way to go. If there is enough interrest in them I guess include them.

You guys do realize that SAKwiki already includes many non Vic or Wenger brands, right? And has for years.

Some are only listed, and others like Richartz and Aitor have their special page.

http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Aitor

http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Richartz

Swiza will at least get its own page sooner or later. Maybe just listing the models and a bit about them. But at this point I don't have the time or the energy to do it all by myself especially as there are loads of corrections in formatting that need to be made after the last security update that broke a lot of the pages. And there's still the Delemont line listings, something that has been delayed for far too long.

We're giving all this consideration to a product that hasn't even produced SCISSORS yet for cripes sake. They have a LONG way to go before I'd even consider trying one out much less calling it a SAK.

Mex, Saw, I am sure 2,5, 10 years from now we will now how "real" they are, depending on whether they are still around or not. Even Wenger fell, so you never now.

I was going to delete this thread initially, as Grathr posted a similar thread, but I let it run to see if the answers on this thread match the ones on Grathr's thread  :D

Enki, reason has nothing to do with this thread.  :D

From what i see and read i think it is a nice knife. I dont know if there are guys out there that can confirm if the quality is on par with victorinox? Like the lock up and the fit and finish. If the price is right and i am looking for a different edc knife i might try one. I really like the locking blade.

Although i do find that their warranty is not as good as victorinox. It states that it is a life time warranty but only if the original reciet is still available. My experience is that it is very hard to keep an reciet ten years without losing it or someone else throwing it away.

I never have used their warranty, maybe it is just as good as vic's warranty. Their only downside is that it takes about two to three months before your knife is repaired.

From what i know they are not distributed in holland at the moment

I'm sure that they will get their own page on the Wiki soon enough.  Richartz and Alitor are both well-established companies who make a good product. :tu:  I don't know how far we'd want to go with other manufacturers though.  Technically speaking every Scout-style knife is very close to a Pioneer or SI.  The US Army Demo knife is an example.  Do we include companies like Case, Schrade, Camillus, Rough Rider, etc?

A lot will depend on how much detail you want to have and how many models you want to cover.
I think saying a few words about the companies you mentioned would be doable, and we can help with pictures and information but covering each model and variation in the same detail as you cover Victorinox and Wenger would be really hard, especially since the forum is not oriented towards these knives, so as to have the necessary pool of knowledge.

Really, Schrade Century should get a SAKWIKI page, as they are a very close to the typical SAK.

RR does have their own "classic" too

Did we?
I am getting old...  :D

I did put most of the information available online on a thread a while ago, when I was researching the topic. I can probably write a bit more if I knew what was required for the wiki. Schradecolletors has most of the information I found already.
