I'd like to point out that everyone who purchases one of these monstrosities is contributing toward the price staying sky high.  ::)

Have you handled one and what are your problems with it?
No I haven't handled one because I took that $120 and bought groceries to feed my family.

Although I do agree that the price is too high for what you get.  Glad I got one, but I wish I'd been patient enough to wait for a good price drop.

The way I see it, the thing is a nice tool for camping, backpacking and hiking where weight can be a concern. But outside of that, I probably wouldn't use it much. A Rebar + 5" x 1/2" firesteel + Fox40 120dB whistle + Fällkniven DC3 stone = More capabilities at a lower price, each item is specialized and not a compromise to fit inside the handles. Yes, more bulk, but each individual item is of much higher quality, easier to replace and the DC3 stone and whistle should last a lifetime. Rebar also comes with a full plain edge blade which is a lot easier to maintain with a proper pocket stone. I use my DC3 all the time to touch up SAK blades and it's a cinch.

So if everyone stops buying a corvette the price will come down to a Fiesta?

Someone please PM when this happens

The price will settle on the Signal but I don't see it being sold for Sidekick/Wingman/Rev prices.

Thank you guys.

Happy to help, Zoidie old boy

I know I've been particularly vocal about this tool without holding one, but I don't feel my comments are unwarranted from my own personal perspective. It will be very interesting to hear your own take on it.

Are you doing the Surge challenge, and will that affect when you can review the Signal? I'm sure you can get special dispensation for handling all day to day tasks with the Surge, and doing some contrived tests with the Signal  ;)

Need all the help I can get. It's easy to forget that others do things differently. If I can't listen then how can I relate to things.

I haven't made a call on when or how yet. Things are pretty busy here atm but at least the tool is ready to go when I get to it.

His logic are:
1. Oh I don't use the XYZ tool on Wave often, so i don't mind the Signal lacks of them.
If that is the case then I can remove MT, Knife and flashlight from my EDC.

2. The new pliers head with replaceable cutter is much better.
I disagree, I found the older style cuts better.

3. Since both tools has the same bit driver, they are the same.
But he did not consider the difference when use the driver as the entire tool.

To this day, I still consider Signal is a hammer based MT, everything was designed around the hammer, and everything else suffer for it.

Without having watched his video it would seem to me like a multitool would always be a trade-off (if we wanted everything we'd carry a tool box). In accordance to that logic it would seem reasonable to say that, "well, I don't use these functions very often/at all" and so I can just as well carry a tool without it. I'm like that with saws, there are few things I could see myself cutting with a multitool saw that I couldn't just use the knife for and so I would probably rather remove the saw than carry it. This reasoning is what makes it viable to have models that aren't the Swisschamp.

Your other points seem right on spot!

I made it to the point where he added the Micra to make up for his lack of scissors in the Signal, and consequently blew his entire weight arguement out of the window. Stop the vid!

Before that point, I disagreed heavily with a lot of what he said

After that point, I couldn't give a crap what he said

I see your point, but in this case of Wave vs Signal, the weight difference and comfort of carry are insignificant between the two, so more tools is better.
Also, Wave not only has more tools, it has better tools.

The other aspect is that this guy I preaching about preparedness - presumably by which he means preparing for unusual events. By the same token, he choses the tool he wants for unusual/unexpected events to have the tools he expects to usually need.

I don't think he's quite grasped his own concepts.......

NAILED IT
his conclusion: If you are saving up for that ONE perfect multitool for EDC, get a Signal plus a Micra on you keychain.
