Just giving my Mammut boots a good scrub and wax.
Especially appropriate when carrying a SAK. Didn't know Mammut was known outside of Switzerland, I usually use that brand to identify Swiss Tourists, when I'm abroad :D

I don't think I knew they were Swiss.  Good to know.  You can buy Mammut gear quite commonly here, but only if you've got deep pockets as none of it is cheap.  They've got a very good reputation though and all the stuff I've looked at seems well made.  The boots I got in a sale, for less than half price, and I really can't say enough good things about them. :tu:

Oh, and I'm carrying my Vic Mountaineer and Spirit X.  I'd have to be eating cheese and Toblerone to get much more Swiss. ;)

Mammut is quite common here too. They make excellent sleeping bags for cold conditions :tu:

+1, Pricey but top quality. I have found that all Swiss Made equipment and clothing are fantastic. I have owned Mammut rain jacket and pants, Exped sleeping pads, Assos cycling stuff... all great  :tu:

I'm on year 10 with my Brasher boots! They are scratched scuffed plucked you name and they are still 100% waterproof!

I have a pair of Lowa GTX boots here that I bought to replace the Brashers maybe 4 years ago and I have worn them about 6 times so far as the Brashers are still going strong.

I took a look at the new Brashers last month with a view to updating the old ones but they just didn't feel the same so I'm holding onto the original ones for as long as possible.

Been thinking about trail runners myself.  Boots have their place for sure and while I do love me a good pair of boots I'm thinking trail runners are a good option

I plan to start running trails more, all part of trying to get fit again.

Given my fantastic experience with my Mammut boots I've got to say they've got to be a good choice mate.  If I ever manage to wear out my boots I'll be looking at Mammuts first and foremost.

This will be my first time with Mammut. I was trying on boots from several brands, but the Mammut's felt the best. Unfortunately, the shop didn't have the ones I have just ordered. They had the model below and model above, so fingers crossed that this pair will be ok.

Here's the top range pair that would be the direct equivalent of yours now.

Years ago I used to wear ABL (Armée Belge/Belgisch Leger = Belgian Army) combat boots all the time, then I switched to hiking boots made by Lafuma, and my current hiking boots are the Meindl Vakuum boots.

I also have a pair of Lowa Catalan GTX boots for "real heavy duty hiking":

And for easy hikes I also own a pair of Merrell Chameleon 5 GTX boots (not my pic).

Scored a pair of second hand Scarpa a while ago - love them - hard wearing and comfortable. Only a couple of bits of thick leather in each boot so few seams to speak of. Clunky and clumpy but great - I wear them 99% of the time:
