Daily surge uses, trimming pizza box for my mini fridge and opening packages. Package just has my info blurred, this is the internet yah know. The important thing though is the pizza was great. This post is for December 8th.

Yeah, friend works at game catering for a hockey game, got to take the leftovers. Best part, it is good popcorn.

Surge while watching tv and eating popcorn. No reason to use my surge for anything productive so not much has been going on.

How messy is the black oxide? I've heard it stains your hands for a while but I haven't heard how long it goes for. And does it increase grip or is it slippery like stainless?
Do you know any tricks to cleaning it off at the start?  :multi:
Also how do you get the basic smiley faces in the text, I can get the ones in with colons but not the normal ones. Does click and drag work once you post? Thanks for all the help

BO is only messy for a few days. A lot of it can be taken care of by cleaning the tool before using. BO offers more grip and is less slippy when wet or oily.
Cleaning it I just gave mine a good WD-40 bath and wipe down.
As for the tekno voodoo stuff, beats me.

So one of my friends has seen all of my multitools. I got him interested in leatherman while the sales were going on and he bought the wave. He got the black oxide version. As we all expect he is excited and covered in coating.

I take and scrub the tool with mineral oil and then wash it under warm water and scrub it again. That usually takes care of 99% of the BO that would wear off on my hands.

Post number 11 I believe. Picture of my small collection. And me teasing a friend (no hair was damaged). Picture count should be at 19 by now. 20 more days, and atleast 20 more pictures. Still loving my surge, do the nylon sheaths die out fast for everyone else too?

Moving stuff around and carrying a surge up and down stairs.
Not much to do with it over the past few days.

When I get a new BO MT, I rub it vigorously  with a paper towel.  Every surface.  That pretty much takes care of the problem.

Bored so I went through everything I liked in leatherman multitools. My surge is almost ideal. If I changed the small flat driver for an eye glasses bit driver it would be what I think is ideal.

So if you don't already know I love my surge. Sadly the side with awl is dangerously loose and falls out on its own. Looking to buy security torx on the weekend and some lock tight. If possible please give me pointers on how to fix it if you done this before. My current plans is take out the screw and ad lock tight and put it back in. I've heard for a surge size 10 torx and I heard there were colors for lock tight but I don't know what would be better. All advice is welcome. Thanks all.

The screw should be on the awl (scissors / blade exchanger) side.

Heat the post with a bic lighter briefly and using a pin or similar scrap out the old loctite.

I use the blue (medium) 243 loctite as I regularly change parts out, the red (hard) 263 loctite requires heat to loosen, most use red.

You will want 2 x T10H bits.

If you run into any trouble, holler.

Thank you very much, I'll probably use the red because I'm not planning on swapping parts around yet. I keep stabbing myself on the awl when it falls out, can't wait till finals are over so I can go get this stuff. Will generic hard wares stores have everything or should I order online?

I wouldn't know for the states sorry. Most hardware stores should have a threadlocker, it doesn't have to be the loctite brand.

UK is probably very different. Never even thought about that. Thanks for the help though. :)

So I got more pizza, buy one get one free and 20 percent off today. Used me surge to cut down a box for my fridge again. The pizza was good again. Used surge on a hang nail, I recommend the scissors for that. Beyond that no need for one during final exams and studying.

Last minute study and review
Surge went ice skating with me earlier and I never landed on it so I have no 4.5 inch bruises.

Played floor hockey with my surge on the side lines. Used it to break down a box but nothing fun. I've finished all my final exams so my hardest week of this challenge has ended. 17th post wooh.
