MTMatt posted a picture of a box that reminded me of this project

Do you remember back in may 2015?
Well I had bought this big old tool box off fleabay to make a pirates chest for a little lad but was then told that it would be too big  ::)

I decide I need a new bedside cabinet
So I start & stop many times depending of how it's going (which accounts for the different varnishes and finishes), years pass untill the end of last year I finish it (Yep OK  but I like rustic!  :P ) Reclaimed wood top an bottom

Here it is in use
Plug the cabinet in to a socket and you have a double socket with integral USB charging
Plug a table light in to the right hand socket, it is then switched/dimmed by touching the brass plaque top outside right side of the unit
Inside top left is a magnet for the little knife I made 30 years ago

That’s nice, especially with the lamp built in, I couldn’t do that cause the cats would be at it, lol.. very nice :tu:

That's the reason I used a second socket, I can plug in any light that uses a 'normal' light bulb

You don't need a cat friendly light fitting  :D

Thanks Alf,  :D
It solves a couple of problems for me, where do I plug stuff in? (both 230v and 5v USB)
and where's the smuffing light switch in the middle of the night?  :ahhh

The metal plaque light switch is very easy to do, I will post details if anyone needs them  :tu:

I installed some underbed motion sensor lights on our bed.  Just on for less than 10 seconds and the lights are pointed down.  Works well.

I tried to do that with a rope light, but the Mrs wouldn’t even let me finish asking if we could put them there..

I've knocked up a sort of stand for my toolbox. Out of reclaimed timber from my decking I pulled up a week ago. Not the prettiest but sure works. Will probably add a shelf underneath and paint it but we'll see.

I just found this thread good work, Tony and Mr. M. I love to work with hands when I am in remission I do as much as I can. Last month I made a dining table. Yesterday I started a coffee table and an old school toolbox. Next week I will post some pics. I have been going to flea markets and yard sales looking for an interesting Hamer or hatchet to restore. I will know it when I see it.
I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

Mike
