I've had a few button ligths over the years.  My longest surviving button light is my photon X.  It has lived on my car keys for well over 2 years now.  I had to change to batteries (2) a couple time due to accidental activation and not realizing it.

My latest issue has been simply it's not the best light for car key duty.  It's only ok and for the times I've needed usable light it's come up short.

I've replaced it with my Fenix E05 and while substantially heavier it will be much more functional for what I've needed a keychain light for.  I will also be "testing" my Lumintop Worm SS and may the best light win.

Not to fret the Photon will serve as a book reading light.

Have you tried the Nitecore Tube?  IMO once you've got one of these then you'll never look at a button cell light ever again.  Nothing wrong with a 1xAAA either though. :)

Yeah, the Tube is great because its USB rechargeable, has adjustable output and is around US$10.  I have also the E01 and E05, both old and new flavors.  They are all awesome.  I run my AAA lights on Eneloop rechargeable batteries for "free" light.  There are many good options for a keychain and/or EDC light.

I have a Veleno designs quantum on my key ring. It's really a piece of art and engineering.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Mine started acting up. Doesn't go to max anymore. And ignores some cells that are maybe a millimeter shorter (which worked before). Probably time to replace the QTC, but can't find my stash.

Great one, although I prefer 5th pocket carry for it.

You suggesting the E09? Maybe we should add that to your sig line. :P

And I just realized I own almost every light suggested in this thread. I might have a problem... :ahhh

The weird thing about the E09 is that there has not been an effort to update it.. There have been some emitter efficiency upgrades, but that was a while ago. I have been using one constantly for a few years with no problems. I am aware of an issue with one I have, developed after about 3 years, but it may be sorted with some cleaning (when I bother)

I have not noticed any new Tank007 lights for some time really.

Here is one at a low price, only a dollar more than what  it used to be in the old days (but then the dollar was cheaper too, so...)

The one I currently have my eyes on is a bit more than 300€ so no spending on keychain lights for a while.

I have a 4/7's Preon P0 and Atom A1 that are great tiny lights.  They both have crazy flood and a lows that are quite useable.  I was recently at my daughters singing performance and needed a low level light to read the program and my 4/7's worked lovely.  I like that they use AAA cells which seems to be what I have most of.

If my Fenix LD02 was smaller this would be ideal.
