Plier-less Flair AKA Skinny Lunch Box Tool
on: December 17, 2015, 08:47:41 AM
G'Day,

A while ago I modded a PST to make my Lunch Box Tool. http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,42637.msg683928.html#msg683928 I was doubling up on many of the tools with my normal EDC Multi, usually a OHT, MUT or a Charge. I mainly used the cocktail fork and sometimes the knife blade or scissors. A "normal" person would just put a fork in his lunch box, but that person may not be a member of this forum  ;). We all know that a proper prepared inmate will go far beyond the call of lunch duties. I tried a spork, but it did not work out for "us" and we parted ways amicably.

Enter some left over parts from a broken Flair and a PST II and the Skinny Lunch box tool was born. Just one side was used and the tools had to be Lunch Box friendly. So, in went the following:
Can Opener
Scissors
Thin Medium Flat screwdriver
Pate knife
Cocktail fork

I did not need a proper knife blade in this one, that duties my EDC will fulfil. There is enough room on the pliers side to add one or two of the shorter tools, but the rest of the space will need to be filled with washers or a spacer of some sort. All that went in there now was the lanyard. It will be tested over the next few weeks and see if I need to put the knife blade back in. It does create a problem as the thickness or rather the thinness of the Flair tools makes for interesting spacing issues.

And now for the pics.

Cheers,

Pete

What's for lunch?

Pork neck, Capicola and some cheese blocks - use for the fork. Rest was fruit. Will take a pic tomorrow and post.

It worked very well, better than the Flair, it is lighter and "balanced"
