My dad had an old carbon steel one from at least the early 1970s.  It had a black wrapped handle with a red stripe and a silver pommell.  I think the tang read Case XX usa

Many a beef were dispatched using that knife.  Time on the whetstone thinned it over the years.

You guys kill me lol . Looking into classy fixed blades specifically that Bass pro sells. I have a 50 dollar gift card and bass pro has a Case m3 with the nice stacked leather handle for 54. I like Buck very much, but I'd have to go for the cherrywood and brass, which makes it not 50 dollars.

I'm quite surprised that you're having to take the lead on this one Higgs. I'd have thought someone here would have had and used one

For what it's worth, the wonderful web has verrryyy few reviews or even comments about them in any size... I know people aren't very fond of their Tru-Sharp steel, so that's why I'm bothering to ask. But the Cases I have are very sharp, stay reasonably sharp, and are easy to sharpen... I think I might do it.

Blaze the trail HIGGS.  You know how it goes with gear, the popular stuff just keeps getting the nod.  There are most certainly good no name, lesser name, or "bottom rung" stuff from big name companies that never get a mention.  May very well be a diamond  :tu:

I most likely will, it was between that and the KABAR Little Finn but I read somewhere that it has a fake handle not actual stacked leather

The Kabar just doesn't look nearly as good IMO. That handle is massive.

The Case Hunter doesn't look bad, but the blade is thick.

The only option is the other fixed, with a 3.5"? And a 5" blade I think. I couldn't find a "Case M3"

I saw the 3. Blade size referred to as an m3 somewhere else.... This is how little info there is on them lol. I'd likely go for the 3 inch size. But I agree with the kabar not looking as good, which is what pretty much decided for me

I was hoping that someone would offer you advice "Higgy-baby" a reference to Magnum P.I. tv show.LOL.

I really haven't had any experience with Case fixed blades and only minimal experience with Case folders.

I did put this Case on my watch list because I thought it was such a great looking knife and really inexpensive.

I'm not sure, as their listings are odd. But I think the one I'm interested in getting is that, but with a 3+ inch blade. That's what drew me in as well. Sharp, classic looks and a price that doesn't hurt too bad. If I do get it I'll be sure to let everyone know my thoughts
