*Something Clever*: sLaughterMed's January Power Challenge

Hello all! As the title suggests,  This is my thread for the January Power Challenge, and I have a supreme lack of creative things to say about it.  So I'll let you figure that part out and get rightto the nitty gritty.

I'll be carrying my modded Pocket PowerPlier and slightly altered OG PowerLock, alternating as I see fit. As I am a full time student, travel agent and dad, I dont have a need to carry tools everywhere, but I do anyhow, because I can. So you will mostly see me doing pretty mundane things like opening beer and cutting tags. If you get bored,  go check out Obi's thread.  I hear he has food.

To be honest, I mostly carry the PPP. But I finally got the plier jaws from SOG, and really want to give the PowerLock a go too. I may carry both some days (like I did today PPP in left front pocket, PL in right Jacket pocket) so :P

Day 1

Last night,  i had finally had it with the sticky bathroom door. It had been "locking" (read: impossible to turn) people out on and off for a week now, usually ending with me fiddling with it with my Micra until it opens. I can no longer carry a Micra though, so it was time to take it apart. I removed the handles and latch mechanisms with my PPPs Phillips driver took it all apart (using awl to move inside mechanisms out of the way for dissassembly), and sprayed everything inside and out with WD40.  It was suprisingly nasty inside. I guess thats why the door kept sticking :think:

The picture dosent do all the nasty gunk justice. It was EVERYWHERE. PPP and PowerLock are chilling on the faucet, flanked by brothers-in-arms WD40 and Silver King Kutlett lube (applied after everything was wiped down)

Used the PowerLock to put everything back together (take that Zoidberg :P).

Day 2

It was finally cold enough outside to make a fire. This is a skill ive been meaning to work on, since ive not built a decent fire without cheater logs or Boy Scout Water since well... Boy Scouts. My PowerLock made some wood curls for tinder, and I batoned some of the laeger pieces into smaller kindling with my USMC knife,  after it spend too long in a cupboard. In the spirit of the Challwnge, i did try to baton with the PowerLock.... and the lock immediately failed.

Not bad eh? I even split the logs earlier this year. Pretty proud of that.

Oh, and the PPP helped make sandwiches for the kids lunch today.

Day 6 was busy again, didnt have time to post much. PPP cut some foil off a bottle of wine.

Oh, and I picked this bad boy up at a pawn shop.

Yep. Thats a Paladin PT-525. I suspect it was taken out of the packaging shortly before being pawned, as it looks brand new.  The price was just too good to pass up, but I dont plan on keeping it long... :pok:

Had a branch on one of my houseplants that had to be trimmed. PPP has no saw or serrated blade, so the PowerLock had to step in with the saw.
