I think I may be eligible to join this club now...

I picked up an old broken PST at the weekend. I stripped it down, re-shaped the blade (which was missing its point), cleaned it all up etc... and I think it's turned out rather well.

It turned out great!!!!!!! :like: :tu: :tu:

As we all know, latest production date of Leatherman PST - 1004 (october 2004), but I couldn't find what exactly latest production date of PST II?
In different sources indicated that around 2004, but latest date codes on PST II I've seen - 0903 (september 2003).
I request to PST II's owners, please, share here latest dates codes of your items, maybe we all will find the answer to this interesting question

Good idea wowaboro :tu: :like:

The newest one I have is only an 0302/0102 and the rest are earlier ones that are just marked Leatherman Tool like the PST, so no help on finding out how late they were made I am afraid :-\ :D

Oh you big tease!!! I've just bought a BO PST from the store using Grant's birthday discount (thank you Grant!). Just got to wait for it to cross the North Atlantic. Not long now...

Excellent picture by the way.

My order of ferric chloride arrived today.. It's my first time doing an acid wash.. Took a not too good pst as a Guinea pig.. Didn't manage to get it as black as I though it would be.. Hmm.. But it's a rather interesting project for me. It's look more like a bead blasted effect.. The picture is actually much darker than it really is.

Thanks. It's pretty much the same etching process  for blades. Disassemble, clean, acid dunk follow by baking soda bathe. The acid will "eat" the metal though. I can feel the pliers pivot a little looser and the cutter have problem cutting soft cable now. But this had a bad plier head in the first place so I dun feel too bad.

Ferric chloride was used. I bought the 2 litre granules. Dunk for about 30mins at room temp. I couldn't get a darker colour though. The picture just somehow came out darker. It's more of a matt grey finish..
