Welcome Boaz

I carried my PST for almost 20 years for work till I bought a Rebar. I joined this forum now I have a dozen Leathermans and a few SAKs ;)

Thank you, I can't rate the Leatherman highly enough. I've started to get a better feel for the SAKs now and can see a few more in my future.

Welcome aboard Boaz....love to see one still at work!  This forum has a tendency to expand your collection...I started out with a PST and a Vic Huntsman.  Now I've actually got to make a decision what to pack in my kit for the day as the brood keeps on growing :D

My 1st Post ever is a Question: Has the PST Chronology Project info. been posted in a Complete 'Spreadsheet Format' anywhere? I posted my June 1996 PST Pics in that thread. Locomotiveman Tom

Hi and welcome Tom

I don't think so on the Spreadsheet. Do you have a specific question about your PST ?

My PST with DATE CODE 0696 has no Hard Wire notch and a 2 stamped in the Phillips driver's tang. My question is: When were those features first included? Also, was it 'Hit or Miss' on how certain Leatherman variations came Chronologically off the Assembly Line; as certain posts refer to 'some stocks of variations must have been mixed with other older supplies'.  I'm roaming the site, as this is a very interesting LEATHERMAN site. Nice...  Locomotiveman Tom

In spite of 33 years and countless contenders, it's really hard to beat the PST/PST II.  It gets the job done and is a downright joy to pocketcarry.   I love mine! :tu:

It always feels great to carry a PST , it's like an old friend. It's all I carried for almost 20 years everyday for work before I caught the bug.   :D

The PST was my first love M/T wise too, and it's still such a nice carry.  In spite of everything that has come afterwards, I'd still take one any day of the week.

Just came today,  BO Cap Crimper date codes 0796 0397.

Handles have a shiny BO coating unlike any of my other BO Leatherman. Looks sort of like the BO spirits I seen pics of. The tools have the regular flat looking coating.

Could it be DLC ?  (diamond like coating)  I have a PST that I believe is DLC, and it is a very different finish to LM's regular BO.  Shiny, smooth and hard and not totally black.  I have no idea if mine is a prototype/one-off/limited run or a custom after-market finish.  IIRC I bought it from Texas Tool Crafters a while back.  Date codes are 0997/0198.

I'm not sure what DLC is but it is definitely different. One handle is a bit shinier than the other .

I'll try and get a better picture.

If you got it from Texas Tool Crafters it is likely a finish that they did themselves :tu: IIRC they do a lot of stuff like that to several different LM models :) I may be wrong and if anyone knows better I would greatly appreciate the correction :tu:

I would like to join the club  :salute: I have serveral PSTs and few PST II I will try to get some pics of them up later to prove it :D

 It is very shiny for a BO  :o I like the look of it :tu: Wonder if the color will wear off like a reg BO or it will remain pretty well black

Sharp one either way, but I like that shininess.  Almost like a black chrome finish.

Black chrome was what came to mind to me as well.  I think it's pretty cool and different  :tu:

I only have one PST  :-[.

But I found it in the display cabinet of a local store, where it had been waiting for me for the last 13 years ...  :dd:

It was brand new, with the original box and manual and most important, the beautiful old style leather sheath (with its own, "brand new leather sheath smell" when you open the box  :D).  To find one of them over here, in a store, brand new is quite unique.

The owner of the store took over the store and the complete stock from somebody else only a year ago, and a couple of weeks before I was there, he had a sales representative from Leatherman visit his store and when he looked at the display cabinet on the counter, he told the owner there was one tool in it which he should hold on to, since it was a bit of a classic.

And guess who entered the store only a couple of weeks later ...
