on: August 28, 2008, 07:31:09 PM
i got this and i really think its one of the most impressive tool setups ive seen this far,the only thing id put in it would be a saw(anyone has one saw and backspring :D???? ),and get rid if scissors maybe, but i really have always liked the can  opener in those, and the serrated blade is nice too.and i cant call those pliers bad idea at all :police:

im about to change the scales to another set of black ones if i found a pair.

BUT,id like to know the model name anyway :o :o :o ??? :D

The term "tradesman" to me just means a person who is skilled in a particular manual trade.  For example a carpenter.
I'm back!!

Yeah, this is not "trade" as in "exchange goods", but rather "labour specialty". When building a house, a builder or a general contractor will hire the "trades", e.g., bricklayers, electricians, drywallers, etc. to do the work.

Wenger Tradesman:

I don't have a Tradesman, but I do have this:

which is close to the Tradesman.

Also this one, which is slightly thinner:

which is close to the Wenger Journeyman model.

Think I like the pliers on these better than the Vic pliers, because of the slipjoint feature.

Also, I appreciate that these Wengers are slightly shorter than their Vic equivalents, the Mechanic and Deluxe Tinker.

The actual difference in length isn't that much, but it seems to make a big difference in comfort when pocket carrying them.

 :o :o :o :o :D

so wenger makes those with BUCK trademark on them?

are those u posted, with locking blade too, this i have is the first time i even see a locking blade sak.
and yes, those pliers are quite nice, due to slipjoint and that heavier spring.

Wenger did make a few models for Buck several years back, but doesn't nowdays AFAIK.

These Buck-Wenger models don't have locking blades.

But Wenger does make a number of variant model small SAKs with locking blades, whose model numbers are preceded by an "S" supposedly standing for "Safety."

Example:
557 - no lock
S557 - same model, but with safety lock on mainblade

Apparently Buck specified these SAKs with clippoint mainblades instead of the usual Wenger spearpoint mainblades.  Other than blade shape, these don't appear to differ much from the Wenger models they are based on.

PS: Forgot to congratulate you on aquiring a very nice SAK - I'd like to have a few SAKs with serrated, locking mainblades like that.

well i got it thro our member, its very nice little pocket knife to have indeed.

hey thanks for info a lot,i didnt have a slightest idea of the way they separate locking models.i mean that "s"-part.
clip points are only thing that i keep odd blade shape,in any knife that aint for hunting&gutting uses :D,and with a clip point that small,u can gut a squirrel, not much more :D

Those little Wenger pliers will work on surprisingly large bolts.

Wenger puts a clippoint blade on the Evo Soft-touch 14, if you're looking for a current model with one.
