Tx. Yes called pushies or something. Should work with more simple tool then press as well (hammer and hit tool). Though should find some first.

In fact this chart works with a whole piece of Ti dipped in the electrolytic solution (H2SO4, water).
For very small parts of using a cotton/brush, the chart is slightly different (this is the exact same spectrum) but the voltages aren't the same:
I could get a light 'urine' yellow at 57V (+lemon juice) with a small cotton and multiple passes even if the chart says you should get that at 70V+

It is a good base of work, but it won't give you predictable results unless your are in the same exact conditions of the chart

i've tried to give an explanation here : http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,64287.0.html

Awesome work...

I've always wanted to do through peening work on 58mm series... How much excess do we need to leave out? Have only done 91mm peening with the bushings in place and always leave 1mm for peening..

I left a little less than 1mm iirc on previous build,
But, with the bevel I might need a little more to get the V shape in the scale and still a rounded tip
I'll tell you after this one  :D

BTW, 1.6mm diameter rod is a little thinner than the holes (like 1.65mm?) Which gives some smoothness (some might say a beginning of wobble)

Here is the Ti Rambler assembly:
(yeah i skipped the scale making part and anodizing/oxidizing -flamed his time-)

Major issues: There are some scratches on the scales i couldn't erase, and I reversed the file, it looks towards the Ti scale  (everything was already pinned when I saw it  :twak: )

I also tried to made a pocket clip, -two as the first broke during cold bending-unbending-bending- ...
Everything is oxidized to light blue and some shades around (deep violet - yellow)

Flame anodizing is fun, but what about playing with electricity and lemon juice?

Here is a test :

- 40V, using an old Epson printer PSU, (12V from computer PSU gives a nice bronze/gold)
- Some cotton dipped in Lemon juice as electrolysis solution
- The + is connected to the scale, the - clamped to the cotton
- The scale is wiped with the cotton a few time until the color is the one desired (this technique at 40V gives a random pattern between gold, deep-violet and light blue)

Awesome tip&instructions!  :tu:

btw I also flamed my first clip again to get that nice blue as on the Rambler, it looks much nicer than bronze/violet now

Why do people (and me too) like Titanium so much?
  • It screams to deaf when you cut it with hacksaw
  • It wears your hacksaw as much as it gets cut
  • It blinds you when you burn it with its bright flame
  • It breaks your drill bits
  • It is a pain to grind
  • It gets scratched when you look at it
  • It breaks when you want to bend it
  • It bends when you want to break it
But
  • It has so lovely colors and is tougher and lighter than its steel equivalent

I made three [four] more clips:
(old one is the second from the left)

One broke (again)
