Now everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but........ I want to punch this guy in the face. Anyways, decide for yourself. I also do not agree with some of his "logic" on a few things I will mention later. http://www.outsideonline.com/2048236/finally-better-swiss-army-knife
"Boker uses Sandvik’s 12C27 stainless steel for its knife blade. That’s a harder steel, with a Rockwell value of 58-60, so it retains its razor edge for longer, but it's just as easy to sharpen."
"... and even featuring a named steel for its blade ..."
Victorinox houses its stainless steel tools in stainless steel liners backed by stainless steel springs.
the glass breaker could save crucial seconds should you ever need to flee a building through locked or otherwise inaccessible doors or windows. Just look around any urban environment and imagine that every piece of glass is now an available exit.
One thing we know for sure is this was definitely not a paid advertisement disguised as a review.
Did he also just say that Vic uses SS liners? QuoteVictorinox houses its stainless steel tools in stainless steel liners backed by stainless steel springs. His attitude to the glass-breaker makes me think he's seen a bit to many action-movies.Quotethe glass breaker could save crucial seconds should you ever need to flee a building through locked or otherwise inaccessible doors or windows. Just look around any urban environment and imagine that every piece of glass is now an available exit. In my world there's also the problem of the Boker not really knowing what it wants to be. Does it want to be the slightly more dressy knife with the wine opener? Or the survival type with line-cutter, G10 and glass breaker? There's a certain measure of mall-ninjaness (or would the correct term be mall-ninjutsu?) in the author, that's for sure.
Whilst not a s good as a Swiza the boker does have some interesting features. I do like the Opinel/leaf style blade and the covers/scales.
People who say "harder = better, end of story" don't know too much about steel, if they follow up with "steel type A is harder than steel type Y", they don't know too much about hardening either. Japanese chef knives can have primitive carbon steels hardened to the upper half of the sixties in HRC, for instance. (Brittle as smurf, but slices sushi like a dream.)("Steel type X will usually be hardened to...", "Steel type X can be hardened to ... without becoming brittle," etc, has a little more connection to reality.)Edit: I'd generally prefer 12C27 over DIN 1.4110, this was just meant as a jab at the reviewer.
Off topic here, but is anyone else seeing Aloha's avatar missing and replaced in Etherealicer's avatar? Just to be clear I am seeing both of their avatars stacked in Etherealicer's avatar. Probably just a glitch.

No, I'm in the process of hacking the captain... so ultimately for him every picture in the whole wide web will be replaced with my avatar...
Since I carried a CityTool 3 during the off-brand-challengeBlade is awesome, for me the best MT blade I have handled. I'm in love with that blade.Scales are niceRescue thingy is scary and useless. Useless as a screwdriver because when using it you risk your limbs. Useless as rescue blade because it does not cut well enough.Scissors are good at medium stuff (zip-ties etc) but fail at thin soft stuffOverall, the CityTool is pretty nice. For me if they replace that rescue-thingy with an awl or something, and tweak the scissors a bit, it becomes a true alternative to a SAK. And don't compare it to the Swiza, the Böker is far better than the Swiza.
