New outdoor multitool from BioLite?
on: February 26, 2016, 08:03:45 PM
While checking out some of the new products available from Bio Lite (that's those guys that make the small camp stove that turns wood into electricity while making you lunch) I found this device:

Having used the BioLite more than a few times I guess I can see a need for this, but it still made me laugh!

It is a legitimate product though, and I can see how it would be useful, but I'm not certain I would get it- if I was the average person anyway.  Since I'm me though, I am going to place an order for it shortly, and will test it when I have a chance to go out and use this stuff again.

So how does it qualify as a multitool?  Simple- it has a bottle opener on it:

Even better, they also offer "Premium, Gourmet Hard-wood Fuel Pellets" too...

This reminds me of the guy on eBay a while back that listed Premium BioLite Fuel for $6 and had a picture of a few twigs tied together with twine.  Who would have known that guy is now in charge of product development?

Maybe it does that too?  Doesn't say in the description, but it is entirely possible....

Nothing wakes you up in the morning like looking at a device designed to break twigs...

But, it's missing a measuring scale to ensure the sticks are snapped at the correct length. If Victorinox had designed this tool, it would have a fish scaler/ruler that folds out of the loop end and allows for proper measuring of the stick before snapping. A saw blade that folds out of the handle. A proper cap lifter/flat blade screw driver. A can opener is a must have tool on a cooking implement. And possibly tweezers and tooth pic...

Quick! Somebody patent and produce this!

Oh, and later on make a Cyber version that includes the bit driver and bits appropriate for servicing the stove.

I honestly took a few minutes to work out what the heck it was for, and even then I didn't believe it.

This feels like an appropriate place to re-post this. ;)
