Looked at it and wondered why anyone would want it.And it was red, eww.
Still plenty of MacGyver collectors being born, out there...

Saw one at True Value for $21 something. Looked at it and wondered why anyone would want it.And it was red, eww.

I'm just gonna have to start making random visits to hardware stores around town.

I do know that the local ACE has a crap selection of knives, of any name.

Anyway, I can attest that a Climber (in nylon scales, assigned to the kitchen) is just as capable as the Compact for domestic uses.  I should get myself a Pioneer X while I’m at it.

No need to panic - the shortage is almost certainly due to my recent desire to get one.  I was finally able to get a new one from eBay for $41, so I don't need to buy one anymore.  You can suspect a sudden surge of availability on Compacts at a price point below $41.

And looks like the prediction was true

I really cannot imagine them discontinuing the Compact - Must be a big seller

Although lots of folk baulk at the price - which is significantly higher than 'equivalent' SAKs

:tu: Thanks again for doing the legwork on this…but the answer for the 74mm only came through Casco and their sales contact, right? No official word from them directly on the 74mm?

Yeah, Casco ignored the line about the Compact in the first email, and Vic ignored the one about the 74s.  :dunno:

I don't think Casco would forward info unless they were confident in it (unlike the person I spoke to at the Vic store, who seemed pretty clueless all around) but I did send a follow up to Vic. Weekend now, so I'll be surprised if we get an update before Monday.

Lol. That’s just how it goes in written communication nowadays!  I appreciate your persistence here.  :tu:
