Nano Socket
on: February 14, 2016, 01:15:27 AM
Cool little keychain tool from KeySmart: the Nano Socket. Really tiny and it gives you two different ways to grip any standard 1/4" hex bit and a small slotted screwdriver.

I would agree that it's a cool tool, but a little too small to be very useful.

Looks like they figured out a slim way to hold a hex bit.  I need to make a SAK foldout tool with that shape. :D

Would sit nicely opposite the Phillips, I can imagine.  :pok:
I quite like the idea of the Nano Socket, although you will not be able to use lots of torque, it might be all you need in a pinch.

A 1/4" hex key through the bit holders may add a good deal of torque.

I wonder if it would hold up to much more torque? There can't be very much material actually holding the bit in place. This could prove problematic if you put it in a SAK where the handle will allow for much higher forces.

I use the opening on the end like a spinner (Photo 1).  The hex opening works surprisingly well to break loose screws or apply torque in tightening (Photo 3).

Hey Buddy!!  :drink:  You know me, I disappear like a fox in the night. Haha!!  All is well with me. Had a rough year last year but things are looking up. I'm happy with life and just trying to catch up on all the things I'm behind on. It never ends...   :ahhh

If you're still looking they are available from Heinnie Heynes, happened to see them when placing an order recently.

Fair bit cheaper then, at almost six I didn't pick one up despite how interesting it looks.

no theyre too long unfortunately , perhaps if you cut a bit of in middle it could fit but might be bit weak.

Yes, replace magnifier. Beef it up a little for the forward holding position. And have a custom scale that holds a few bits?  :tu:
