Wenger Ranger Official Praise Thread

Got a 61 model from Tim for my dad's birthday. Holy God this thing is beautiful. If they had a model with OH plain blade, scissors, saw, corkscrew and can opener, I'd get rid of my heirloom Atlas this instant. The pocket clip does get in the way, but it's removable, so no harm done (why choose such a rare screw type for it is beyond me, though.)

So yeah, I really like it. Was a little baffled by the five year warranty. Is this common for Wenger and do they actually enforce the time limit?

Brand new. Fifty bucks with shipping, from Tim. I think he has auctions on eBay, too.

I have a 56 that I really like...it's just a larger, standard Trekker. I like the locking mechanism on the Ranger line. Very nice.

As with all Wenger® Swiss Army Knives there is a limited lifetime warranty.

This was copied and pasted from the 2008 Collection catalog (the one with the Giant on the cover).

But according to WengerNA web site there is a five year warranty.

I don't know that answer.

I like Rangers.  Sometimes bigger is better.
The pliers on the New Rangers 70-75 especially rock.

The SOSAK OHT in the upper left is for size comparison.

also got a 61 with clip on the way.

If you want OH and pliers,  the Alinghi 176 is the only game in town.

Wait for the Mike Horn Specials:

Does anyone have a clue when/if/where these knives will be available?

So, does that Mike Horn special have pliers and scissors, or are there two versions?

Oh my... look, I'm not asking for everything. The knife would be too big. Just a plain OH blade, saw, scissors, can opener, corkscrew and punch. And it would be nice if they started putting tweezers and stuff in there...

There is not a lot of information out there about these.

I assume there are be 2 versions, otherwise it would be really thick.

C'mon OH and pliers!

I like that serrated blade on the Mike Horn, plain by the tang, serrated in the middle, and a little edge of plain on the tip.

That would look something like this:

and be about 2 inches thick.

Hmmmm.... come to think of it, even my "bare bones" SAK has 4 layers. Seeing how I already have a superior saw on the Swissgrip, it may be wise to "settle" for a OH half-serrated blade, scissors and can/bottle openers on the front side.

The second they come out with a plain edge OH model with pliers, openers, and flat and phillips and for around $50 I am sold. I think that is really ideal for EDC.

Have any of the modders attacked the NewRangers yet?

A 51 and a 75 would provide all the bits you need.

If you combined a New Ranger with an OLD Ranger, you could have 2 locking blades,
because the locking mechanisms are on opposite sides.  You could have a locking clip-point
from the old Ranger and a one-hander spearpoint on the other.  Either serrated as you wish.
