I've pretty much always worn a watch as far as I can remember. I actually like the way a watch feels on my wrist.
My wrist feels nekkid without a watch.
I don't wear watch since I bought mobile phone, so it's exactly 16 years. But last year I wear xiaomi mi band, fitness tracker, alarm, pedometer...(Image removed from quote.)
I am the destroyer of watches, lost count of how many I broke as a younger fellow.Then one fateful day I got some sort of burn from the back of my watch. 25+ years later still watch free.

I seem to have an effect on electronic devices - none of them last very long with me. I have Palmer Hyperhidrosis which means my hands sweat profusely at times and I've often wondered whether that had something to do with it.
