Well, about the flag...
on: February 28, 2016, 06:36:15 PM
Well, this one is going to be a bit special ;)

When I updated my profile I had to choose between the different flags or a "Spam"-badge. I went for the German flag, but somewhat half-heartedly, because several of the federal states in Germany have a special status, maybe most of all Bavaria, where I come from. They're called "free states" and sometimes even behave as such.

Germans from Bavaria will tend to claim that they're Bavarian, not German, whilst Germans who aren't from Bavaria will claim that Bavarians aren't really Germans.

So- could I apply for a slight modification in my profile?
Attached to this post I've created five square-milimeters of Bavarian white-and-blue, just in case it'd be possible to add some regional flavour ...

Edit: Whoever'd be so kind to carry out this operation would of course qualify for a Maß of Bavarian beer on their next visit to Bavaria.

I understand, I spent a few days working in Saxony about 6 years ago...

While it's not really a big issue to add one flag, if I open the door who knows how many regional flags will be requested...

I was fearing the same, but one has to try at least :salute:
And I'm figuring out an alternative... ;-)
(and it's not moving to Switzerland and claiming their flag... but wait...)

I took the occasion to boost this site's funding in your name, at least that much to celebrate  :drink:

Still, that offer for a (or more) beer is a definite thing!

Thank you,

In Belgium we have three communities, the Flemish, the Walloon and the German community.  And we also have the Brussels-Capital Region ...

All of these communities have their own flag, and all of them differ quite a lot from each other (although most of "the conflicts" between them are invented by politicians ...).  You can find a list of our flags here.

Being Flemish, I quite like the flag of Flanders ...  :pok:

It's named "The Flemish Lion"  :D.

I'm just kidding, the Belgian flag is okay for me  ;).

Talking about flags- the country which received the second highest amount of income tax from me is considering (quarreling, re-re-redeciding ...) getting a new flag.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_flag_referendums,_2015%E2%80%9316

It took me ages to stitch all the Kiwi-flag patches to my backpack and my car flashes a weatherproof version of the old flag... That'll be a lot of work for me if they finally change the design

I'm envisioning flags for Powernoodlia, Zoidbergenstein, the Republic of Obi, . . .

Well, I've got 11x16 pixels and 256 colours- and for noodels, there are about 200 distinguishable heraldic possibilities of pasta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pasta).

I'd say, there are some possibilities!

I'm guessing it's not very likely I'll be in Bavaria any time soon, unless I suddenly get a new job and they send me there... but a beer or three is always a good plan in my books.

Zoidbergenstein
The proud banner of Zoidbergenstein shows a rising claw, universal symbol for fertility and crispyness, on greenish ground, referring to the greenish depths of greenish depths.

Looking relatively good- a simplified Powernoodlia and Zoidbergenstein.

The Foundation for Law and Government, also known as FLAG, is a crime-fighting organization dedicated to fighting criminals who operate above the law.

I lived in Bavaria (Babenhausen) for 3 years back in the 70's. A great place and great people!
