Good on Etherealicer for getting you a birth year SAK!  I got Megan's 1984 SAK from him as well.   :tu:

The WaffenKontrol stamp is basically the issue stamp, and differentiates actual issue models from the civilian versions.  You can see more info here:

Since we're doing shard comparison pics here's a couple of Counterfeits next to the real thing.
I bought the fakes knowing what they were despite being listed as real, and with a pic of a real one. The actual Gerber is part of a post Christmas clearance haul, and you will recognize the Walmart gift set blister-cards.

Note the fakes come in Gerber looking old style boxes with 2007 copyright info on them. They are about .2in longer. The half-round notch is sharpend enough to cut twine, though hardly usable as a wire stripper like the Gerber's V-notch. The finish is rough and has spray runs in it. The Philips driver is blunt and not fully formed, making it completely unusable. The blades of the driver are only as deep as the name logo stamping and not actually cut in. The bottle opener is more squared off at its inner curve as well.

More pics
Not visable due to flash, the real one has a printed/laser etched part number of some sort in its back coating

On a side note
I was seriously disappointed at the burs on the Ripstop2's serrations and locking surfaces, some so large they came off in flakes.

The saw and MiniParaframe on the other hand were just as I expected.
