Kershaw Launch 4 CA legal Auto.
on: March 04, 2016, 09:27:18 PM
Well I said I was going to do it and I did. I ordered the launch 4. USA made California legal automatic. Now I know some of you do not like such a small auto, but for me the size is fine. Its not a weapon, just a cutting tool. I have a past with a CA legal auto that was given to me and then stolen from me years and years ago (there is much more to the story) which I still think about quite frequently. That knife meant A LOT to me and the launch 4 is almost like a replacement after all these years. Its more than just a knife purchase for me its like I am finally turning the page on that memory so maybe it can stop haunting me. Anyways, I am excited to get it to say the least!

I love that it is USA made and carries CPM154 steel.

Pretty cool.  That's the first time I've seen this particular flavor.

Whats the CA law, total length restriction or blade length?  A 1.9" blade is makes a SAK blade seem large.

PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Its not impossible that Kershaw will launch other colors of this, as they have with some of the other versions.

I wanted to get a few quick shots of it compared to the Dragonfly.

When you actually compare the cutting edge they are about identical.

I absolutely love this knife. Love everything about this knife. I wan't another as a backup. I hope they do a second generation of this guy. It may not be for everyone, but its great for me.  :tu:

Pro-tech made a Cali legal auto more than decade ago.

If memory serves me correctly,it was called the Runt.

In checking their website,I see they replaced it with the Half Breed which has a full size handle.

I like the symmetrical dagger styling.
Really cute.

The Launch 1-2-3 are available here but no sign of the little one.
Style and utility wise it seems the best fit for me. Its a talking point man jewelry item with stunning looks and great engineering.
I want to get me some CPM154 somewhere.

I've never owned an auto.  Having exsanguinated myself a few times when a knife opens in my pocket, I'm a little concerned about the button getting pushed and the blade popping open.  This does not seem to be a problem for most people, but I seem to have knives open in my pocket more than most people.

Benchmade has been making one for years as well. All are DOUBLE the price of the Kershaw.   :D

You should never carry a auto loose in your pocket. If carried with the clip in the right front pocket you will never have to worry about it opening unwanted.

I almost never carry any knife with either a thumb stud or spydie hole loose in as pocket for the reason of accidental opening.

Yes I still have it and use it quite often. It is a excellent knife and I never intend to get rid of it.

You mean something like this? My son had a Smith & Wesson clipped to his pocket and the blade tip protruded slightly due to a weak back spring(not an auto). When pulling his pants up the blade opened against his leg(inside the pocket)and this was the result. Not terribly deep but he is on blood thinners due to problems with blood clots.

As good as any other auto out there, and just an overall great knife in general
