You don't really hear a lot mentioned about the Ka-Bar Dozier Hunter so I thought I'd share some of my thoughts.
I bought one last year and at £23.95 I wasn't really expecting much but what a pleasant surprise when it arrived. First off I noticed it was very light weight , only 89g , it's so light I frequently carry it in my shirt pocket and don't notice it there. The Zytel handle has quite an aggressive grip pattern on it which works very well even with wet hands. The pocket clip is strong and effective and can be changed over for left or right carry but only in tip up position.
The thum stud is knurled and I found my thumb doesn't slip off but I found it is positioned a little to close to the frame and to be honest isn't the best thumb stud I've tried but it does work ok.
Blade deployment is very smooth especially after breaking in but I still can't flick the blade open due to the strong back Spring. With the back Spring depressed the blade swings freely in the frame with no play. The blade swings shut under the spring pressure that would have a Buck 110 hiding in its sheath in shame. And it locks open with a very satisfying click.
The 3" hollow grind blade on this model has some kind of black coating that is ok but isn't that hard wearing and isn't the same standard that can be found on say the USMC fighting utility knife or on the Becker range. The blade was sharp out of the box and takes an edge easily , there is also jumping on the spine.
To sum up this is an extremely useful edc knife at a really good price and is a joy to use.
