Why a Tom Brown Tracker?

Now I very nearly bought one a few years back when I had money, but for a number of reason's I didn't

Now for some reason I really do like them, and think there probably great as a Survival knife, if a little to thick and heavy for most bushcrafting tasks

So I might soon start saving up for one, as God know's, I need a expensive treat

But what I'd like to here is some genuine owner's views on the knife , reading review's in tacticle knives is one thing, but there rarely honest , so I'd like all your opinion;s good or bad, and any decent links too if you've got any.

ive never owned one but ive used a lot it,since one of our "yeachers" has it and im bumming it all the time,but recently i ordered one knife almost similar.


still im goin to buy the original,maybe the "new" smaller one even.it aint no whittling knife but man u really can do all other tasks in woods,with this beast,ive never managed to do any damage while using and im pretty merciless to users

LOL!!!!  Thanks, I really can't say enough about this knife. It's a great chopper, yet it will slice fairly well. If I could only carry one knife this would be the one.

Now if I could just find me a Beck WSK.

The knife is really interesting conceptually too. I am really intrigued by it. It is somewhere between a machete, hatchet, saw and regular fixed blade, I think...?

here in finland most of people almost hate tracker knife,cause theyre so awkward looking compared to any other knives,especially our own puukko´s.but i just love that piece of steel and if im good boy,maybe santa brings me one

I have wanted a tracker for quite some time now.  I dont spend as much time in the woods as I once did so I guess that it would be just another heavy hunk of steel sitting there and collecting dust.  I will say that i have handled that knife and I absolutely love its characteristics.  My uncle was a knifemaker and he made fixed blades only.  I have handled every type of fixed blade that one can imagine all have their purposes and I will say that the tracker can cover all bases.  The only other knife that I can think of with as much utility is the Nessmuk knife but even that knife does not have a saw.  If I were to buy a tracker it would be the smaller version.  I see no advantage to getting the larger model other than it makes a better axe and would be better for throwing.  Although, throwing a $250 knife is stupid as you are unlikely to hit your target anyway and throwing your survival tool makes even less sense because if you break or lose it you are screwed.

well I got to handle one at Blade West, talk about front heavy!
it was made nice, but it was odd, all the "this and that"

I was impressed and confused at the same time! I don't think it
was for me, but it was interesting.

well as ive owned mine for smal ltime now,i can say im not disappointed at all,i think it is one of the best knives for me,as i do realise its not jack of all trades,its useless to try to make some minimalistig artsy whittlings with this blade but its good for all othe rthings you need to do outdoors,and i think...i dont have any real experience yet..it is very good in survival uses as its strong anough to all things i can imagine to need to do if im on that classic deserted island.i think taht as it gets dull,i will make the sharpening anlge bit less steep but thats about it.and that i will do on the part of blade that is closer to handle,the curved tip can be steep as its for splitting etc harder tasks and has to handle blows etc.even the sheath aint so bad,as many say,it does rattle occasionally but its not big sound and i realised that i could adjust the tightness of sheath by relocatong the screws it has.but im makin a new sheath from old leather slaveged from horse-saddle.i will put a place for firesteel,sharpening stick to it,if not even some small pocket for sak too.

It is the most unique blade I have ever handled, and those that have it really like it.
It would be fun to put it through it's paces and compare it to other choppers.
