I normally EDC a LM Rebar for my work EDC but with all the talk of the  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh !!!MINI!!! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh in the last while I thought I would give it a shot in the rotation for at least a week............perhaps longer :D I always have my Vic Executive with me so I do have a few other basic tools with me as well ;) I am not a neanderthal  :D We shall see how it goes  I may carry it until it fails to do what I ask of it and then move to another tool  I don't know we will just see :tu:

I would also like to set up a model similar to the PST Chronology Project for inputting you info on a  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh !!!MINI!!! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh as well  Perhaps

•   Lanyard attachment?
•   (Old) small diameter or (new) large diameter plier pivot?
•   LEATHERMAN cast into plier pivot, along with USA or TOOL?
•   A hard wire cutter notch?
•   Handles stamped with what?
•   Inch ruler only, or inch/metric?
•   Date codes? What are they?
•   Knife blade markings?

I will put mine in this format this evening when I have access to them

Not sure if a couple of these apply like the plier head pivot but I don' have a really old one to judge that by ;)

Owe and pics would be fabulous as well :pok: :D

Come on peeps I know that there are more than a few of you with more than a couple  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh !!!MINI's!!! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :pok:

:b2t: I now have a few pics of the three that I have :tu:

Here they are in there different sheaths :D I only had one that came with a sheath.  The BO was BNIB but didn't come with a sheath though :o The one in the middle is one that I made and that is the one that I have on my belt :tu: It is holding up pretty good and the tool goes in and out as it should  The other is one I scavenged from a craftsman folding utility blade knife and put a Sack-up inside it :tu:

Now out of the sheaths they come :D

Now a pic of them still all close up and cozy

Here they are fighting over who gets to use the factory sheath :D

They are getting ready to come out and play

Knife comparison

File comparison

Their first form

Halfway to their final form

Their final form  :o :D

What a shame it's retired. Most minis on ebay don't ship to Australia. But I'm hopeful I'll get one.

Indeed, BUT, keep an eye out on Gumtree. I found both mine in the last few weeks. One was near new and needed some sharpening - $10. The second one was slightly more worn and I got that one for the same price. I used it to do a mod on. I am still looking for pouches though.

Cheers,

Pete

Hey Poncho and LM Mini fans

I have just started looking into the Minitool - maybe more about that later  :D
However I have a few questions/observations for you..

1. Poncho - From looking around the forum (eg Loki's & Spoonrobots threads) it looks like the lanyard hole was on the mini right from the start - So maybe not worth putting this in the Mini chronology questions ??

2. Similarly it seems that the dual inch/metric ruler was on the Mini right from the start - Is this true ??

3. I see quite a few of you have put the large plier head as being on your Minis - I assume we mean the large plier head that came out in 2001 on the PSTs. Again from looking around the forum piccies - It looks to me like that wider plier head never made it onto the minis (nor the wee arrow for the hard wire notch).
Is this true ??
I could try some piccies later - If this is not clear

What say y'all??
Thanks

Yeah the lanyard hole is most likely in all models I am just hoping that a really early one might not have one  :D I am thinking that the earliest models may have been as the PST and only had inches  I would have to go look on here to be sure though ;) The third question also is suppose to relate to some of the really early ones. It is about the plier pivot specifically not the plier head whether the pivot is smaller diameter or larger diameter similar to how the early PSTs are vs. some of he newer ones :tu: Also I think before 1996 there wasn't a hard wire notch on the plier head either

Looking through some threads and some pics of the  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh !!!MINI :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh I may have to revise my thoughts of the plier head pivot ::) I am now thinking that the larger diameter pivot is on all models and I was seeing just one side of some of the older ones :D My mistake and if someone happens to have a different pivot on a really old model you can make note of it but we can take it out of the list if you want :tu: I am also thinking Huntsman was right about the inches/metric ruler as well so if anyone has one with only inches they can make note of it but until then we can leave that off the list as well :D
