"Flick it"
on: March 26, 2016, 06:56:55 PM

I have been meaning to post this for a while as a trip down memory lane.
That is a flickit
What is it Marcellus, you ask? Tell us what this object could be.

Well, about 30+ years ago this product was sold to give your
knife a one hand opening feature.

Before the integral thumb stud, spydie hole, spring assist, etc.
It was chrome plated, spring steel you carefully muscled on your blade.
And I do mean carefully, because it was a very tight fit.
I used it on my Buck 110 Hunter folder for a while and eventually took it off.

The following are pictures with it on a Buck 112 Ranger to show what it looked like.

It does not compare to the one hand opening features now, but you could remove it and put it on another knife.
No doubt, some gray bearded members are already familiar with this product, but I thought the younger crowd would be mildly interested.

I am not grey bearded yet, but I remember these. Not when they first came out, but saw them when I was younger. Thanks for posting this.  :tu:

It looks like the add-on predecessor to Ernie Emerson's self opening "wave" design.LOL.
