Micarta and some milling work done by my buddy who'll be the lucky owner of the Zombie Slayer.

I spent a few hours in his shop this weekend working on my forge, and he used the time to do the milling to lighten the knife, as well as making the SS tubes for his knife and a brass tube for the lanyard hole of the parang.

Micarta for the parang was my 2nd try, the tint I used, green in this case, seems to delay the reaction and I just about doubled the amount of hardner I used.
Green tinted resin, large weave Hessian and green wool cloth in layers with a neon green liner of a synthetic material.

Micarta for the Persian dagger is Orange synthetic material with a neon green liner of the same material.  A very thick liner, so it's actually a 2 layer micarta.

I have some more grinding to do on my knife, but until my forge is done this is it for now....

Thanks everybody!

Just pieces of nicely shaped steel, progress is slow for a backyard knife maker and now I have to rebuild my forge........or at least turn the brake drum I used till now into something slightly cheaper to run and more Ozone Friendly  :P

After the milling work it was decided we're going to make 2 skeleton knives as well, I'll do the grinds and my buddy will do the milling work on the handles.

Maths is not my strong side, you know... :-[  So what is it. I counted the spark plug holes by now with the help of my toes, but I still want to know what it is. I know in my part of the world many Audi, VW and Volvo use a 5 cylinder, although I fail to see the advantages of the odd number of cylinders. 3 make sense to me (120 degree crank offset) as do 4, 6 or 8.

And btw, nice knives you are building there!
