Yeah, you can build so much from it; fantastic material.

Stopped at the Chinese market on the way home...

10 pairs of Bamboo chopsticks - .79 cents
Stainless Travel chopsticks with case - $4.39
Fruit/vegetable knife - $3.89 (seems well made. couldn't resist)
Single cup coffee making thingy - $4.99

They also had a couple other Travel sets with non-collapsible chopsticks...what looked like a child's set with small spoon and 3-tined fork ($6.39) and a longer set with a soup spoon ($4.39)

The destructions are...

A. Take off the lid. Screw out the screen
B. Put in the coffee (3-4 teaspoonfuls)
C. Tighten the screw moderately
D. Pour in a little boiling water (to fill one quarter of the coffee filter
E. Wait for 20-30 seconds
F. Undo the screw for at least 2 turns
G. Refill with boiling water
H. Keep the lid tightly. Keep the taste fragrant

You may need your Multitool handy for step F...I can picture burnt fingers and coffee grounds flying across the room :ahhh

I keep buying coffee gadgets hoping one will finally brew a decent strong cup in the field. It's likely this one won't be worth the bother either.

I've haven't found any method that beats Cowboy coffee yet...

I find just using cafetiere coffee in a pot works well.  Mix it us as per normal then strain the coffee as you pour it into cups.

I drink more tea 'in the field' though - coffee only usually at work :D

LOL, nice one.  Strong coffee is good.  I tend to drink mine looking a bit like mud - the stronger the better.

I've never used the steel ones before :ahhh

I only have a small issue with taking full sized chopstick with me...storing them in the pack. Maybe I need to make a Kydex sleeve to hold them...or something more Bushcrafty in leather  :P

Why, other than tradition, are chopsticks as long as they are?   Just so they can be used for serving as well as eating?
For eating purposes they seem to be almost twice as long as they need to be.

Short chopsticks would be much easier to carry, you might even be able to put them in the scale of a large SAK :)

You choke up on the handles for different amounts of control. You should see cooking chopsticks, they're almost twice as long and twice as thick.

EDIT: Also helps to remove you from steam and other things. =P

It also probably has to do with the fact that food is placed in the center of the table in communal dishes...not served out on individual plates Western style.

Huh, guess so... maybe.

There's also games (like wedding day types) where you show off your finese with chopsticks. You can't grip an egg that well unless you're holding the chopsticks far back.

It'll also fit better inside my trangia.  The Vargo spork I have been using really only does just fit inside, kinda.

It'll probably be banned in the UK because it can be wielded as a knuckle-duster   :pok: ::)

I plan on getting a pair to use as Ninja Tiger claws...
