Gone that quickly huh?  Knew I should have ordered 2 but thankful to have 1.
Waiting for the time when I can finally say; this has all been wonderful but now I'm on my way.

Now available at Vic USA https://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Medium-Pocket-Knives/Pioneer-X/p/0.8231.J16  :ahhh

Tried to order one out, and it wouldn't let me.

Call them. 1-800-442-2706. I placed my order last night with no problem.  I received an e-mail this morning asking me to call regarding my shipping address being different to the billing address.  It was sorted in a couple of minutes and I am now waiting/hoping for shiping confirmation.

Well, finally shipped last night. Should be in Laredo by Monday. I hope to have them here in Mexico by next Friday. Can't remember the last time I was so exited about a mail call

:tu: Hope it's sooner than later EB, congrats!

Mine came today, exactly as expected. Nice for my first Damascus LE, I'm pleased.  :)

Now if I can only resist removing the keyring...

Well, it was sooner rather than later. They arrived today  :ahhh

Nice one EB, good to see another one being carried! Still debating carry, but the standard PX is doing the job nicely for now.  :tu:

It's like winning the lottery seems a real possibility now.

I had to come out of retirement earlier this week when I got news of not only a new Alox SAK, but one with a Damascus blade as well.  Oh the memories of the good-old-days were fresh again. The US price is fairly reasonable as well. Such a shocker!

Luckily i didn't know until this week that Vic was going to shock the known universe and add scissors to the 93mm line, it would have just been added stress waiting... I thought 93mm would be all but moth-balled by now.  I guess the new guy is taking a fresh look at things :)

I might just have to add my own picture to the forum just so I know it's real.

Great to see I still recognize a lot of the names still posting here, and good to chat with a couple on email when I heard the news. I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the new Alox.

I'm still carrying my C.E. Damascus Explorer, have not been able to switch it out just yet and move back to Alox, but the new DPX may do it eventually. Lost the shield on the Explorer. Keychain still has the custom Ti Vagabond, some one asked me the other day with all my nice knives why i cared a plain one on my keychain :)

I think i'll go answer a couple of forum questions i see need some historical help before i go.

All The Best to the Swiss Army Knights.

Alox Forever!

My baby boy is due this year and I was determined to get this 2016 limited damascus to commemorate his birth. I got kinda desperate when the US official website denied my order due to my Singapore-issued credit card. Worst thing was that while I was trying to contact them, the damascus knife went out of stock  :ahhh

Searched online for other sources and found a few priced ~30% higher. I even bidded on the first one on ebay that eventually went for USD280. Luckily I stood my ground and refused to pay anything more than USD240. Finally ordered one through Jeff at CS for USD185.

As of now, CS is also out of stock. But I just found out that KC is now taking pre-orders for the damascus at the same price. So I ordered another 1 for myself.

Point is, I believe there's plenty to go around and this alox damascus will never command the same price as the 2010 damascus pioneer, which is the 1st of the series and much more limited in numbers.

Probably not, but don't count on it, it might get very close if it does not reach or pass it.  This is the first new Alox configuration in how long?  How popular are the Scissors in Alox?

It's too early to tell.  This is just the first batch as Vic takes time to get all 5000 made even some large dealers in Switzerland have yet to get all their knives, but remember these just came out. The US price is quite reasonable because of the US dollar.  If US allotment is bought up, that will force people to pay a premium very quicky to buy them from Europe.

That's my view, but as I said too early to tell and just a guess. Never though i'd ever even see this knife from Victorinox.

I booked mine yesterday. The price will be around €250.
I can get more but I do not know if it is worth the gamble.

The numbers made are not huge and it is an unusual model, you have the history of prices going up with the pioneer, but you also have the history of prices going down for the Damascus editions of the past few years, and, the bursting of the coloured alox bubble during the past year...

The dealer still has in stock Damascus models from the past few years, so they are not in demand...

The way I see it, people who want this 2016 damascus alox pioneer x can be broadly categorised into the following:

1) people who find special significance in the year 2016, like myself
2) alox collectors who are interested in it because of the unique colour or tool configuration
3) sak users who want a pioneer X as a user but want to stand out from the rest using the silver version
4) opportunists who are hoping to make a quick buck flipping it on ebay
5) damascus series collectors who already have the 2010-2015 and want to add this latest version

For those in category 1-4, I seriously doubt that they would pay anything above USD500 for one. Its only the hardcore collectors in the 5th category who will pay serious money for one. But then again, my guess is that these people have already gotten their 2016 damascus themselves, either directly from webstores or through other forummers

I'll be very happy if they reach $500USD, but it's certainly not a given. Victorinox did a good job ruining their collored Alox market, who is to say they won't do the same with Damascus. We'll see if next year they stick to their 1 color a year for Alox proposal, didn't seem to hold for 2016.  Still a great knife so i'm just very happy they made it.

Interesting to know where the knives were shipped originally, not that it's at all difficult to transport products in this global economy

Reported consignments:
United States:  365
Great Britain:  100

Guesses: South America 250
              Africa:  100
             Asia:  300

And France, Germany and Switzerland get the other 3,500?!

I'm sure over half went to Central Europe.

The U.S. figure has been tossed around on retail sites like CS. The British figure I saw on "UK outdoor store" website.

It's got to be the alox lovers that have set this situation crazy. Which then has brought in the speculators and then collectors fearful of not getting one. The speed the 2016 is going is nuts.

I got mine in, plus a brace of the "Dark Gray" Pioneers, which, to me, look the same as the black ones, but hey, they're a lot cheaper. :D

I love the scales on the Damascus Pioneer X, so pretty.  I'd love a regular production model with a similar scale option.

I'm not sure until they arrive.
I do know a collector that managed to get number 0010 which is the lowest I've seen.
He just asked his dealer for the lowest number and that's what he got.  :ahhh

Maybe we should start a numerical list along with what country they were bought in.

4306 - USA

This information came direct from a friend at Victorinox.
.......

Really - Seems highly unlikely!! :o
Just under a third of the whole world's allocation goes to the UK ???
When you think about other countries where SAKs are so popular and populations often larger: USA, Switzerland, Germany - to name a few!!
I read on a UK Vic dealer website that the UK had been allocated 100.

.......
Managed to them at dealer cost. 8)

Which dealer? How much? We need the deal too!!

PS. I like this numbers logging game - It's going to be interesting and may shed some light

PPS. On the popularity I have seen these SAKs sell out on four of five websites under my very eyes (eg Cutlery Shoppe) ! So I would say they are selling like hot cakes
