Got my first SwissChamp in '92, this is it. Plans are to rebuild it soon. Had to disassemble 3 of my mods to retrieve the missing tools, and a couple are beyond repair. I EDC'd it until '97 or 8  ??? until I snapped an ear off the Phillips. I have enough SwissChamps now, time to get back to my original.  :salute:

Sorry for posting on Friday, but I don't have the time to contribute on coming Sunday.

Here is my revised Champ. A very long time ago one of the scales plus the under laying liner were badly damaged, so a few month ago I sent my 1987 Champ (2nd model) for a revision to Victorinox. Last week I it finally returned to me, after paying € 21,50 for P&H.

Victorinox had the liner repaired, the scales replaced by modern scales (with pinhole!), put in the pin, the new type mini-screwdriver (luckily I saved the original one), new T&T, new pen, and they replaced the old type pliers with the new pliers type!
So now I have a 1987 Swiss Champ with 2017 details. Should I be happy or not?? I don't know...

Here is my revised Champ. A very long time ago one of the scales plus the under laying liner were badly damaged, so a few month ago I sent my 1987 Champ (2nd model) for a revision to Victorinox. Last week I it finally returned to me, after paying € 21,50 for P&H.

Victorinox had the liner repaired, the scales replaced by modern scales (with pinhole!), put in the pin, the new type mini-screwdriver (luckily I saved the original one), new T&T, new pen, and they replaced the old type pliers with the new pliers type!
So now I have a 1987 Swiss Champ with 2017 details. Should I be happy or not?? I don't know...

Considering that the underlying liner was damaged, I would think you would be ecstatic to have a reconditioned and current Swiss Champ. I have the original model of Swiss Champ that replaced the Champion. I am happy to have it but I have a much higher regard and pride of ownership towards my other  Swiss Champs with grey-framed magnifier and thick pliers with wire crimper. If you really want to have an older model like the one you had, they are out there!

Of all the Swiss Champs, I have the highest regard for the Super Timer.  My most treasured Swiss Champ is a mint NOS Super Timer.

I think your story had a very happy ending.
