OK, I think I know which one I prefer, but I thought I'd get some feedback from you folks.

The contenders are:

Case Sodbuster Jr Blue

and

Boker Plus Tech-Tool 1

Criteria for me this time is; non-locking sub 3" blade, not a OHO, single blade, synthetic scales, removable pocket clip (if any), budget of around £25.  Any other suggestions are welcome. :)

My taste sways more towards the Sodbuster

Tough one!
The blade on the Boker Tech-tool is very good I hear. And is slimmer and more pocket friendly than the Sodbuster.
On the other hand, the sodbuster is a awesome pattern.

Its a close call, but my vote go to the Boker.

The blue looks pretty nice but I would get the Boker.

Really?  I'd only heard good things about the Boker Plus Tech Tool blade.  Have I missed something?

I refuse to buy or recommend any of their products until they reply to the email I sent to them, in Germany, official email, twice, a few years ago regarding the backspring of one of their knives, which I bought, snapping in half.
They do/did not care, so I do not give them money.

That is a shame.  It's always unfortunate to hear about poor customer care.

It's a crap shoot with Case.....some new ones are wobbly right out of the box (never heard anything bad about the Soddies though). In general won't buy a new Case knife unless I can handle it first. No experience with Boker Tech stuff but the old Bokers are excellent.

 The Case
Do you really need the clip on the Broker? Besides ...

The Case is a classic, comfortable, great little clasp knife

I doubt you will be disappointed

My 2 cents

That's a good question, and the answer is.......no.  In fact if I went with the Boker I'd very likely be taking the clip off.

A perfect 50/50 split. :D

Go with the Olive Boker .

Any particular reason?  I'm a fan of greens in general, but I rather thought the black looked slightly classier in this case.

I might not be the greatest fan of the CT line-up, but that blade is excellent, it just feels right to me.

But

Any reason why you are not getting both?

G10 vs plastic? 12C27 vs "Stainless Steel"?

As a user, the Boker wins by a landslide.

As a collectable... the Boker is still just a China massproduced newbie while the Case is an old style timeless slippie.

Since we're on MTO, how about this guy? (I reckon his Alox/GAK pals are too big for your needs)

Limited "fun" budget at the moment. ;)

That's kind of my thinking as well.  If I didn't already own a Case Stockman I'd be more inclined to get the Sodbuster.

While I've not got a Sentry/Junior I do have a few other 84mm SAKs in that style.  In fact I've got an Excelsior in my pocket right now.  Obviously a good suggestion though. :tu:

Good point. :) I've got a yellow CV inbound at the moment.  My vote is still for the Case.  The Soddie Jr is a fantastic knife, no matter what color..... :tu:

I almost added a "Buy Both" option to the poll, but that would be wrong. ;)

The short term solution is to buy the one that is most likely to become harder to find in the future.  Case will continue to make the Sodbuster for as long as they are in business, but the question is will you be able to find the Sodbuster Jr in blue six months from now?

An excellent way of thinking about it Alan.  However I've just ordered the Boker Plus (in black). :D

My final reasoning was this: I've got a good few traditional folders already and, despite the blue scales and SS blade, the Sodbuster still felt a little too traditional.  This time I was after something that felt more modern, but without becoming tacticool.

A Sodbuster is still on my shopping list though. :)
