I only used that name because of our members in other parts of the world where Prince might confuse who I was referring to  :salute:

I was not referring to you, but to the news channels.

Even his publisher made the announcement using his full name

I didn't take is as you were  :salute:.  I still think its the same.  I'd imagine if UK news sources broadcasted PRINCE IS DEAD, there would be many who would not immediately think of PRN.

RIP Prince, another one lost far too young.

His music was never my cup of tea but I always respected him as a musician and as being one hell of a guitar player. I had the pleasure of seeing him sit in with Carlos Santana at a small venue here in the Twin Cities years ago and it was truly an amazing thing to see.

They are slowly going this year...

Not my type of music, but from times to times it was quite pleasure to listen to some of his music's!

Rip.

Likewise, I was never a fan, but he did go young, and unexpected. This followed the news that the Wrestling icon Chyna also passed away. This is turning to be a bad year for folks with fame.

Only now did I see this thread, had just started another.

He had some great songs and was a true artist. Had a great sense of how to be in a stage and how to deliver a flawless performance live.

A few words from MTO's resident curmudgeon.

Prince was vulgar, hyper-sexualized, misogynistic and drug addicted.  He treated women like mere sex objects, and was guided only by self-indulgence.  By glorifying people like this, we only encourage more of the same in those around us.  He may have deserved our love, guidance and empathy during his life - had he sought it - but not our praise in death.  From Kurt Cobain to Amy Winehouse to Prince, we see again and again that a life of self-indulgence and depravity inexorably leads to destruction.

Ok, I agree. But that's not all he was. Apart from those traits, he also had many character defects and short comings.

Ok, breaking character and speaking seriously-ish: those people mentioned (and others alike) have their public life and their private. Those of them I like, I only like what they do as artists, not who they really are or what they believe, defend or advocate.

Having said that, I respect everyone's opinion and point of view, being similar or opposed to mine.
