It's not ideal for an instant collection because the case is entirely sealed. One would have to admire at a distance, and over the years some tools may have closed up and be no longer visible.

Makes a nice addition to an existing collection, but since they can't be fondled with work to extrack them from the case I think that display has sold for less.

Could the knives be removed from the display without damaging them? I guess the display would be ruined, but still not a bad price for the knives.

Price seems really good, especially given there's a new old cross Pioneer and a Grand Prix in there.  I wouldn't mind having it if I had the money.  I'd keep the display intact.

What's with the "New" on the Tinker model name?

Wouldn't the back springs be shot after being open for all these years ?

Sure.  The case would probably be ruined, unless some heat treatment and gently prying could release the adhesive.  It's probably bonded pretty good plexy glass to plexy glass surface, but i'm sure the experiences could get it open. With a fine saw and some care I guess the case may not be damaged too much.

Before the Climber was the "Climber", it was the Backpacker. The name was probably changed to distinguish it from other knives using the same name.  That was also before it had the Hook.

Its a possibility, yes. I think they would be alright though.

I have bought SAKs out of a display and they were fine...SAK springs (esp ALOX) are very resilient!

Maybe it's just me, but I would just bust it open with a hammer and use the hell out of those SAKs.

The one labeled "Ranger" has a magnifier on it.  Looks more like a Champion.

Edit:  Looks like there's both in there.  Hard to tell from all the light reflection.

Cool mantle piece.
