Another "What's in your pockets" thread
on: January 26, 2007, 12:17:31 PM
As I begin my daily equipment loading proceedure I can't help but wonder what everyone else is carrying.

For me, today, indespensable items include a Wenger EVO Grip S17, a Leatherman Juice Kf4, Seberteck M3 on my keys (with my SOSAKOnline carabiner!), my Sanyo 7300 rugged cell phone and an inexpensive DV camera that I use as a "beater."  I have often thought about carrying a good light as well, but I really don't find that I need one all that much in my current job.  When I do need one, the Fauxton light attached to my Wenger Nail Clipper model that I keep in the truck performs well enough.

Today I'm carrying my Spirit, Treo 700p, Vic Sportsman, AGRussell Ti 2.5, & Photon X-Light.  Anyone else carrying the X-Light?  It's just as bright as a Freedom, is easier to take apart, & glows in the dark.

You guys pretty much know I am busy out the rear end at work, no time for fun and games much anymore. I am even getting complaints that my blog hasn't been updated in weeks, but I do have time for a post. Here is my EDC, I Leatherman Charge XTi, Leatherman H502 knife, space pen, Casio G-Shock watch with Atomic Time, Moto Cell Phone i450 which I use to talk to people on MSN as well as check out a few webpages and on my keys a SwissTech UtiliKey.

I forgot to list my Fisher pen too... I have a chrome bullet with pocket clip and PDA stylus, although I rarely carry my PDAs anymore.  They tend to get a little too beat up and them buggers are expensive.

Duncan? How is it that you still have some money in your pockets? (If you've still got money in your pockets, then you obviously don't have enough knives and tools yet!)

What are you renting?  My wife just bought a copy of Airplane and Airplane II last night for $6 each...

I'll be sure to let you know if there are any multitools used in those movies!

The easiest way to shrink them for viewing is to open them in Paint (I am assuming you have the misfortune of being a Windows User! :P) then go to Image>> Stretch/Skew>> then just type in a percentage that you feel will shrink the pic to a decent size.

Of course you also have to remember that each user here has different screen resolutions too.  Many pics that fit fine on my screen get me all kinds of nasty e-mail complaints that it's too big for other people!

It looks like how much you EDC has a lot to do with your line of work. At the machine shop where I'm employed, everyone has a toolbox the size of a small barn next to their work area. Everything you could possibly need is at arms reach. Out of approximately 75 people, only about 6 of us even carry a multitool. Maybe another dozen guys carry a SAK or pocket folder.

Buy a cheap CR123 flashlight and gut it.  Your chapstick would fit in there :)
If you took all the intestines out of your body and stretched them end to end... you would die.

Eric at On Scene makes a nice Bic lighter sheath- I am certain he could make a nice tactical Chapstick sheath if you really needed one!
